Embracing the Wilderness: A Day in Chitwan National Park
As the sun rises over Ratnanagar, the clear skies and warm temperatures beckon explorers to venture into the heart of Nepal’s natural wonders. On April 5th, the Chitwan Jeep Safari offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich biodiversity of Chitwan National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sanctuary for wildlife enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into the lives of the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, and a myriad of bird species.
The day begins early, with a jeep safari that takes you through the park’s diverse landscapes, from dense sal forests to expansive grasslands. The morning air is crisp, and the visibility is excellent, allowing for breathtaking views of the park’s inhabitants. As you traverse the park, the thrill of spotting a Bengal tiger or a sloth bear in their natural habitat is an experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.
“A wonderful day in Chitwan National Park - We spent a whole day in Chitwan Park, in Nepal, with the Hotel, activities and local guides hired by Outshine Adventure. The Hotel was very good, with a good buffet, which was able to serve special gluten-free meals tailored to our needs. The surroundings of the hotel are very good, swimming pool, gardens with beautiful trees and birds. The room was large, although the cleanliness was only adequate, and the facilities were old: The air control did not work, the bathtub had some cracks… nothing serious. First thing in the morning we took a canoe trip along the river which was wonderful. Going out through the fog in wooden canoes (not very comfortable, but to be expected), with elephants (domesticated) crossing the river at fifty meters was a good start. The descent down the river, very gentle, led by a man very skilled with the pole, was beautiful. We saw birds (several white throated King Fisher, a Common Kingfisher, similar to the one we have in Europe, ducks, herons, peacocks in freedom, climbing 30 meter high trees…) We made the return walking through a sparse jungle, passing through several beautiful places. After resting at the hotel and eating, we took the excursion, in an open Jeep, through the jungle. Several hours (it doesn’t take long) of walking comfortable paths between imposing trees, seeing elephants (with your guide), several groups of deer, various lizards, monkeys (including macaques, langurs…), spectacular termite nests, delicate flowers , butterflies…..we didn’t see the Rhino, but we were delighted with the excursion. Overall, a magnificent experience.” - Reviewed at 2023-12-03
The safari is not just about the wildlife; it’s a journey through the cultural tapestry of the region. The Tharu cultural show, included in the safari package, offers a glimpse into the traditions and lifestyle of the indigenous Tharu people, making the experience both educational and enriching.
Cultural Immersion: The Nepal and Bhutan Tour
On April 6th, as the sun rises over the Himalayas, the Nepal and Bhutan Tour begins, offering a deep dive into the rich cultural heritage of Nepal and Bhutan. This tour is a journey through time, exploring ancient temples, monasteries, and stupas that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The day starts with a flight to Pokhara, a lakeside town known for its natural beauty and vibrant culture. As you explore Pokhara, the clear skies provide a perfect backdrop for the stunning views of the Himalayas. The tour then takes you to Sarangkot, where you can witness a spectacular sunrise over the mountains, a sight that is both humbling and awe-inspiring.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to Chitwan, where you can engage in jungle activities and a village walk. The Tharu cultural event is a highlight, offering an authentic experience of the local traditions and customs. The day ends with a return to Kathmandu, where the city’s rich history and vibrant culture await exploration.
