Located 156 km southwest of Kathmandu, this area spans 932 square kilometers. Established in 1973, it gained UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1984. The region’s tropical deciduous riverine forests, wooded hills, and grasslands are home to a quarter of the world’s endangered great one-horned rhinos, as well as Royal Bengal tigers, leopards, monkeys, and the magnificent gaur bison. Bird enthusiasts can find over 440 species here, including the giant hornbill, the rare Bengal florican, and the paradise flycatcher.

Chitwan, which translates to “heart of the jungle,” offers a unique wildlife adventure with jungle safaris, bird watching, canoe rides, village tours, and jungle walks.
