Highlights
  • Battistero Neoniano (Battistero degli Ortodossi) - The octagonal design of Byzantine baptisteries holds deep symbolic meaning, with the eight sides symbolizing the seven days of creation and the eighth day representing resurrection and eternal life, thus linking to the sacrament of Baptism. At the center of the baptistery is the baptismal font, also octagonal and dating back to the Renaissance era.

Ticket Cost: 10,5 € (includes other monuments)

  • Basilica di San Francesco - Initially dedicated to the Holy Apostles and later to Saint Peter, the Basilica of San Francesco dates back to the mid-5th century AD. Due to numerous renovations over the centuries, little remains of the original early Christian church.
We will also visit Dante Alighieri’s Tomb!
  • Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo - The Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, constructed at the end of the 5th century, was commissioned by Theodoric, king of the Ostrogoths, to commemorate his victory over the Roman officer Odoacer in 493. It initially served as the Palatine Chapel, used for the sovereign’s religious functions.
Ticket Cost: 10,5 € (includes other monuments)
  • Piazza del Popolo - Piazza del Popolo is the vibrant heart of Ravenna, known for connecting the streets of the historic center and hosting events and displays. It was built by the Venetians between 1470 and 1480.

I’ll show you a few cool things and stories here: get ready!

  • Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra - The Domus of the Stone Carpets is one of the most significant Italian archaeological discoveries in recent decades.
Particularly noteworthy is the mosaic of the “Dance of the Geniuses of the Seasons,” located in the central part, depicting the Seasons dancing in a circle to the sound of a syringe.
    Ticket cost: 6€

  • Basilica di San Vitale - Designed to showcase Byzantine grandeur, it features an octagonal plan with distinctive central architecture compared to the basilicas of its time. The Basilica of San Vitale has a simple exterior, but the interior is complex, with curves and rotating surfaces.
Ticket Cost: 10,5 € (includes other monuments)

  • Mausoleo di Galla Placidia - Another incredible UNESCO Heritage monument! The building’s simple exterior symbolizes matter, while the richly decorated interior represents the soul and spiritual light.

The dome, adorned with stars and a large golden cross, evokes the theme of Paradise.

  • Mausoleo di Teodorico - The Mausoleum of Theodoric is an architectural masterpiece of exceptional importance, recognized worldwide as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
