We teach you about the waves, rips, potential hazards and surfing etiquette. Then techniques on how to carry your board, attach your leg rope, paddle for a wave and stand up. Once in the water, your coach will assist you with wave selection and help you balance as you get a feel for paddling and standing up on the waves. Your coach will be with you every step of the way to make sure you feel safe and get the best advice for a top quality lesson.

Take a 2-hour group surfing lesson in Margaret River to learn everything you need to know about catching waves and staying safe doing so. A surfing instructor is with you every step of the way: on the beach for demonstrations, in the water for tips and assistance, and providing encouragement when you claim your first wave. When booking, you have the option to upgrade to a 3-lesson package. Use of all gear is provided.

Redgate Road
Lessons are generally held at Redgate Beach, however if conditions aren't suitable we will notify you of the best location for the conditions on the day. Please meet the Margaret River Surf School van at Redgate Beach Car Park 10 minutes prior to your lesson commencing.

Fun in the sun, life experiences. - My husband and daughter did a 5 day lesson. I went along and watched each day. They improved a little everyday with the wonderful coaching and experience that was offered. The instructors were all very helpful, kind and very friendly. Even from the beach I could tell my family were in great hands. Arthur was our favorite. The age group during the week was very wide, with different experiences, the boys looked after everyone equally with experience, safety and care.

First time surfers - Went to the surf school at redgate beach on the 5&11 Jan.
Had George, Luka and Patrick on the 5th and George and Arthur on the 11.
Had my daughters with me, non of us had surfed before. The guys were really helpful and positive. Cheered us on when we caught waves, and gave positive encouragement when we didn’t.
I’d highly recommend them, and will definitely go back again.

Epic surfing! - Arthur and Jorge were amazing instructors! Really clear with safety and instructions it wasn't long before we were up and surfing. It really was a brilliant morning on the water. Thanks again lads!!

Holiday fun - LUCA & Patrick provided professional, appropriate information to support, teach & make the lessons enjoyable for all. Perfect conditions on the first day allowed all to brush up there skills. Second day was more challenging but Lucca & Patrick enabled all to push their limits in choppy conditions & learn to steer aswell as stand. Professional outfit, 3rd day saw sore bodies, but with enthusiastic coaches all enjoyed the final day of surfing feeling a sense of achievement. HIGHLY recommend as staff knowledgeable, relaxed but attentive to variety of needs of group & who were able to engage & build rapport with kids.

Fun but scary (due to massive waves and rocks) - As beginners, we got a bit unlucky with extremely big waves, so it felt quite unsafe as we were surfing in an area full of rocks which could have been dangerous. Since the conditions were quite dangerous, only one student at a time could try to catch a wave with one of the instructors, while the other people had to wait and paddle away from the rocks and massive waves. Due to this, we were in a rotation system and we only had the opportunity to go about 6 times each in 2 hours of lesson. The instructor Jorge was friendly and helped us paddle in the waves. We still had fun, but it didn’t feel completely safe and definitely not beginner friendly. If the conditions are better and you can surf on a beach with sand, it is probably much better.

Too many students to instructor - The instructors were lovely, but WAY too many students to instructors. People just sitting in the water with their boards, waiting to be told what to do but it is impossible for one instructor (as lovely as they were) to help 8 novices learn to surf. Great concept, great people, but rather reduce the numbers and increase the price if required, as you don’t get much out of it in its current format.
