• Platania Gorge - Our destination is Platania Gorge which is located on the western slopes of Mount Psiloritis, in Amari Valley, in central Rethymno with its entrance found in the village of the same name. We’ll be starting bright and early to make the most of our day in the gorge. Get ready to greet the morning sun as we embark on our adventure into nature’s wonderland. It’s a small yet stunning gorge, abundant with endemic and other plant species, providing shelter for birds of prey. Its towering vertical cliffs and caves add to its allure. Within one of these caves, the Cave of Pan, believed to be the birthplace of the ancient god, rock paintings possibly from the Minoan period can be seen. We will have the opportunity to rest on the shadows of the trees. Later, during the day we will enjoy a break for relaxation and coffee at a designated location outside the gorge. This stop provides an opportunity to refresh and unwind after the hike.
