Fantastic Excursion - Amazing trip, my favourite part was the monastery, even at high season the environment felt so calm, with lots of space to move around. I could have spend all day in the grounds, the dancing and music at the Taverna over lunch was great. There was such a wonderful amount of information about Crete delivered by Nicotarias, who was outstanding. So much passion to share the heritage of a wonderful island.

Amazing tour - The real Crete all day trip was amazing. The tour guide and driver were both highly entertaining and very warm. We had just the right amount of time at each place to independently explore all the different places. There lots of local shopping opportunities and we finished in a family run taverna with live certain music and dancing. We can’t recommend this excursion enough. Really chilled and well managed.

Are modern Greeks barbarians? - Interesting itinery, good guide. The only unpleasant surprise was the barbaric attitude of the modern Greeks towards nature in the last object of the route - a cave in which many stalactites were damaged to improve the path for visitors.

Wonderful!! Absolutely wonderful - My friend and myself went on thus wonderful trip last Sunday. I must say to start with the tour guide,Nicotarias and the driver Costas were the best we could have had! So informative, passionate and just amazing humans, the tripnwould have been nothing without them. The 5 stops we made, the Melidoni cave, the village of Margarites, the Arkadi monastery, the village of Apostoli and the gorge of St Antonio really made us feel we'd learnt a lot about the people of crete and the beauty of the island. The food at the family Taverna in Apostoli was delicious, Costas played the lyre for us and him and Nicotarias got everyone up and dancing. We had a drink courtesy of Nico, the grandfather and owner of the taverna, still a great dancer at the age of 94! . The while trip was joyous and I highly,HIGHLY,recommend it,esp6if you are lucky enough to get to meet the wonderful gentlemen who guided us through it.

Return to Apostoli - We took the Real Crete tour last year and had such a great time, we decided to repeat it this year. Once again the tour was very enjoyable and informative, thanks to our guide Nectarios (apologies if I mispelt your name) and driver Costas. Our main reason for repeating this tour was to revisit the village of Apostoli and the traditional taverna to deliver photos which we took of the wonderful Cretan villagers who adopted my partner. As last year the hospitality, food and live Cretan music performed by Costas and the dancing performed by Nectarios was superb. My partner was again invited to sit with the locals and we promised to return to see them next year. All in all we had a wonderful day to remember. Thank you Costas, Nectarios and Mr Nicos' taverna, we will return.

When you book make sure Nektaria’s and Kostas are your guide and bus driver! - The trip was amazing but what made it better was Kostas the bus driver and musician and Nektario’s the Guide and dancer…my husband and I always do a bus tour but this has been THE BEST one we have ever been on! We will be back with our children and hope they will be around for our children to have the same amazing experience…the Tour is well worth it…we learned a lot …the food was good …the music …the energy was just everything the soul needs!

Excellent trip, a must do if you’re staying in Rethymno! - From start to finish this was a very well organised tour. Was easy to book at the shop by a knowledgeable rep. Pick up was near the hotel and on time. The coach was very modern, comfortable and air conditioned and expertly driven by Kosta. Anastasia, our guide, was very cheerful approachable and interesting and knew lots about the history of the sites she never had to resort to reading notes. Kostas Greek music and dancing was a highlight, but unfortunately for us most of the party were older Germans who didn’t want to join in , so this didn’t go on as long as we would of liked despite Kosta and Anastasia trying to get people to join in. The food at the Taverna was really good. We would of preferred to spend time at the lake rather than the monetary, but that’s just our preference, if we did the trip again we wouldn’t to go in the monestry but would head for the cafe! The scenery was stunning! It’s amazing how much was crammed into the day, we spent about an hour at each stop off. We highly recommend the tour to get out of the city and into the mountains and see real Cretan life. As we got back to Rethymno the company gave all the ladies a rose as it was Mother’s Day, this was a lovely surprise and a great end to a fantastic day.

Enjoyable Day Out - We had a very enjoyable day visiting the Real Crete with Markadis Travel. The first part of the day took us into the countryside to visit the spectacular Cave of Melidoni which was set amidst a stunning landscape. The next stop, the village of Margarites was tranquil, picturesque and quaint – these two places were the highlights for me. The Arkadi Monastery was also very impressive. We enjoyed a traditional meal and dancing at a Terverna along the way, followed by a quick visit to a gorge, lush vegetation, and river at the bottom, lovely and cool too! This was a very hot and long day out, and we did feel that having lunch fairly late in the day wasn’t ideal (personal choice) as the visit to the gorge afterwards seemed quite rushed. That aside, we would recommend taking this tour, the tour guide was extremely informative and super friendly – thank you :)
