Interesting and unique - We had a great tour of this, Iceland’s largest lava guide. Our guide was from Dublin, and filled our tour with interesting observations and insights. Most thought provoking was when he turned out the lights and encouraged us to consider the impact to our other senses and how we primarily depend on our sight. The physics of the cave formation overlapped my experience in glass melting, which the guide was eager to discuss and trade insights.

Definitely a GREAT tour! - My husband and myself went on this tour in June 2024 and I highly recommend this experience. I was very impressed with our guide and the tour. The hardest part of the tour was the driving the gravel road to get to the start :) It really is a well-run operation and safety first was definitely a top priority with the staff! A great and unique experience!

Great excursion - An excellent guide who explained the details of the lava cave in a fun way. She had archaeological knowledge but spoke in a smooth and funny way.

Thoroughly fun and fascinating - We had a great experience with our tour guide, Aoife. A lovely girl from Ireland with a wonderful smile and cheerful demeanor. She made it very enjoyable. She also was very knowledgeable about the formation of the lava tube, and minerals, etc. She answered every question our group posed to her. We have done other lava caves, but this is clearly one of the largest and most interesting. At this time of year, early June, you can still see the little Ice Ghosts that form from water dripping. They were fun to see and photograph (there are already some photos of them in this listing). However, note that they will be gone as the weather warms up.

Brilliant tour in a magical cave - This was an amazing experience, well worth doing. Our guide was great, really passionate about the cave and really knowledgable - and she treated us to a beautiful song inside the cave at the end which was a magical experience. As it was winter, the paths were very icy and quite hard to walk on, so something to be aware of - but it meant there were beautiful icicles and stalacmites made from ice which just added to the experience and made the cave look even more breathtaking!
