You start driving your buggy on a lonely trail in the backlands of Reykjavik. Following the trail, you will reach Hengill mountain range and Hellisheiðarvirkjun, the power plant for Reykjavik. Your guide will lead you to an area that looks like the moon. The first stop will be at the geothermal area next to the geothermal power plant. The area was a film location for the movie “The secret life of Walter Mitty”. After your stop, you head back closer to Reykjavik. You are taking a gravel road into the stunning Blue Mountains. The next stop is Vífilsfell mountain, named after a slave of Ingólfur Arnarson, the first permanent settler in Iceland.

Your exploration, stretches across vast lava fields, journeying to the Hellisheidi Geothermal power plant. This plant supplies both electricity and warm water to the entirety of Reykjavik - Iceland’s capital. Witness the ski-slopes of Reykjavik, known as the Blue Mountains. Ascending the Hengill Mountain range grants a spectacular view, framed by plumes of steam from the Geothermal power plant below.
- Pricing is per person based on 2 people riding in one buggy car
- Children ages 6 and up are only permitted to ride as passengers in the buggy car
- A full valid driver’s licence is required to drive the buggy car
- Adult pricing applies to all travellers
- A minimum of 2 adults per booking is required
- No alcohol or drug tolerance is allowed on our tours. We have the right to breathalyze participants if our guides suspect a participant being under the influence and deny going on the tour.
