Great day trip and great guides! - We had an amazing day trip to the big 3 stops on the Golden Circle tour and a very relaxing time at Fontana Geothermal spa. We lucked out with beautiful weather and sunrise/sunsets. Our only complaint is that they should include a towel rental at Fontana, no one wants to bring their towel that they would then need to carry around wet.

Exactly what I'd hoped for, and More!!! - This is one of the optional stop choices on the Golden Circle day-tour. Only seven of our tour had chosen this so we were dropped off and picked up by another bus. We had over 2 1/2 hours to enjoy the clean, safe, beautiful pools of differing temperatures. The lake was also an option. After the lovely soaks we enjoyed the geothermal-baked bread presentation, by Roger. You see the bread dug up from the boiling hole, cooled in the lake, opened and a new loaf buried in its place. Back inside Roger sliced up the fresh hot bread. We tried it plain, with butter and finally with smoked fish. YUMMO! This was a terrific stop!

We went on this tour... - We went on this tour yesterday and enjoyed every minute. The tour guides were so lovely and informative, additionally the views were spectacular! Fontana Spa felt so special as there was only 6 people there including my husband and I! Make sure you wrap up warm and wear waterproof clothing...and try the Swiss mocha in the cafe at the waterfalls!!

Great day! - Just a great day! Saw all the major sights and our guide “daggi” guided us to all the best spots for viewing and photography. He also kept the bus ride interesting with facts about Iceland. We thoroughly enjoyed him. Ending at Fontana was just great. Wonderful local experience with rye bread and the pools were marvelous. Great day. Highly recommend.

Relaxing Thermal Waters and Homemade Rye Bread - This is a good spot for a break to enjoy thermal waters (different temperatures each pool) at a more reasonable price. Although there is nothing very special about the facility, there are two factors that make it worthwhile: The view of the lake is fantastic (although some of the pools are too low too see), and the demonstration of how they make their rye bread using only natural thermal mud for cooking. You may have to ask them to show you if you aren't on a tour. The rye bread with their smoked trout is excellent, a must try.

A great way to see a number of sights in one day - My sister ands I had an enjoyable time on this tour, and the guides were very helpful. The weather was challenging, so it felt we were a little rushed at each of the stops. When you book it says there are places to buy lunch, however it is very difficult to have time to purchase and eat food while also seeing the sight you have stopped for with so little time allocated (sometimes just 45 minutes). We really enjoyed the Fontana Spa, and had 2 hours allocated there which allowed enough time to really enjoy it. The views are spectacular, but be aware that there is a lot of time on the bus driving between places. It is, however, a great way to see a number of sights in one day.

Great Place to warm up - This was a great pit stop during Golden Circle tour. Very clean. Nice buffet available for a lunch arrival. Great view onto a lake. They also offer a cool nights option to see the auroras while relaxing in the hot spa

Tour operators really need to improve the information about exact hotel pick ups not actually happening at the hotels b - Bit rushed but that was expected in order to pack a lot of sightseeing. Main issue is the pick up, despite the hotel pick up option (with extra charge per each person) the actual pick up is not at the hotel. Reykjavik old town is relatively small hence larger tourist buses have difficulties reaching the centrally located hotels. Which is fair enough, however it should be clearly stated that the “hotel pick up” extra paying service will instead be at nearest allocated bus stop. Luckily I cross checked with my hotel receptionist the nigh before tough tour organisers may think that the average tourist may have no actual time to do such. My email confirmation stated hotel pick up and google map location showed my hotel location, whereas it was actually about 500 mt away 2 cross roads distance. Which ok is not too far but can be really confusing. Also at bus stop there is no sign of bus tours pick up location confirmation. Take into account few factors I am listing tough not exhaustive: 1) I am a tourist hence I may not be familiar with the town 2) Its very cold, hence I may not wish to wait outside in bad weather (I was traveling with 2 elderly persons over 75, picture me waiting in the cold outside, no shelter, no seats, rain coming down at 9 C in august) Would have I known the actual conditions I wouldn’t have booked. Or arranged a taxi (that for the sake of 1.2 km would have be cheaper than 3 extra pick up charges) 3)Time is indicative – hence if pick up is at 8am, I am there before 8 am (jut in case) and I end up waiting till 8:20 am in the cold. Tour operators really need to improve the information about exact hotel pick ups not actually happening at the hotels but designed bus stops in town. Throughout the way to the central bus stations the pick up bus collected other tourists at other pick up pints it was almost hysterical to see lost tourists souls all panicking round town waving at each single bus passing by to find their own transportation vehicle. Also I strongly suggest tour operators make it clear that whoever adds the spa visit will change buses throughout the day (just in case a tourist may count on leaving anything behind on the bus). And to be fair pick ups at spas will make losing a lot of idle time to other fellow passengers. A bit more precision would be greatly appreciated. Natural landscape made it up for that and Fontana spa is a great experience. Kind regards, Federica
