Very impressive - Very impressive museum. Hardly any visitors in November. Great, informative audio guide that you can download for free on your phone. Not too long but the most important information. Seeing the whales in their original size was remarkable. You feel extremely small. It's just a hall but you can stay in it for a long time. I can also recommend the cafe.

Whales are large - This was just a fun experience. Where else are you going to see life size whales. The audio tour was really informative and led you through all the info plaques. Definitely try the trivia quiz that’s at the entrance wall. It was fun and a little challenging. And you get a cute momento. It’s not a long experience- unless you get there in time for the videos (I didn’t) and it’s close to like 5 other attractions so it makes a great part of a little trip.

Meh - OK for kids. - We struggled to spend 30mins in total going from model to model reading all the relevant basic information. The models are all well done and we really wanted o like it, however we cant help feeling this place could be so much more, but at the end of the day it is largely a big shed with a bunch of models and a few videos. Kids would probably love it, but as a group adults we were left wanting more. We are already are interested and sympathetic towards whales and wanted to be awed, influenced, educated, moved and more - none of that really happened and so an opportunity missed. The shop is largely full of stuff for kids. The cafe is largely a waste of time - there was some hot drinks and 2 muffins available when we visited.

Whales of Iceland - We popped in after seeing lots of reviews online on a very wet day. It was a lovely place, with great life sized models of Whales hanging from the ceiling and an informative video about Whales and our effects on them in the ocean. Overall, it didn't take long to walk around (1 hour max) and read / see the whales. I felt that it was hard to get the full scale of the whales since everything is above your head, and I thought there would be more bits to look at than just the models / more information. It cost £25 per person for us, but was cheaper to book online than buying in the reception. I didn't feel like it was worth £25, but the money helps towards conversation of Whales. There are toilets and a small cafe inside and a cloakroom.

Nice museum. If you have a choice between the fly over Iceland or the nearby lava museum - Nice museum. Has loads of huge fiberglass whales. Good information and fun things for kids. Takes about an hour to an hour and a half.
