Amazing Northern Lights tour - It was our first time to book such a tour and not to organise it ourselves and I have to say it was definitely worth it. It was a cold and windy night but hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls kept us warm, our tour guide Marcin knew all the places to go to to run away from the clouds near Reykjavik and we have seen the best Northern Lights ever. Marcin was constantly checking both aurora and weather forecast and used this knowledge to the maximum. I cannot recommend the tour enough, the photos we got after were great, the vehicles they drive are amazing and perfect for Iceland. If you are looking for small group tours where the guides take every little thing into consideration and provide you with amazing, professional photos, Icelandic Roamers is definitely it.

Most knowledgeable and friendly guide, helped plan my surprise proposal out on a frozen lake under the northern lights - I had the most incredible experience with Miro as our northern lights guide during what turned out to be the most magical moment of my life. Unbeknownst to me, my then-boyfriend, now fiancé, had enlisted Miro's help to plan a surprise wedding proposal under the northern lights, and it was nothing short of perfection. Miro's expertise and guidance were invaluable in ensuring that we were in the right place at the right time to witness the breathtaking spectacle of the northern lights. Standing on a frozen lake, surrounded by the ethereal glow of the aurora borealis for over 50 minutes, was a moment I will cherish forever. Not only did Miro facilitate this unforgettable experience, but he also captured it beautifully through stunning pictures and time lapses. His skill behind the camera perfectly encapsulated the magic of the moment, allowing us to relive it again and again. Beyond his professional capabilities, Miro was also wonderful company throughout the excursion. His warmth and genuine enthusiasm added an extra layer of joy to an already unforgettable evening. The Most Magical Norther Lights Proposal on a Frozen Lake - A quick summary for those wanting straight facts: - Miro played a key role in planning my surprise northern lights marriage proposal (this review is about that). -Miro is extremely well-planned, and has profound knowledge and experience when it comes to chasing the lights. - His Super Defender make the experience of chasing the lights a once-in-lifetime experience - Miro is an amazing person, and is now a friend more than a guide. - He doesn’t say it, but he is the natgeo traveller of the year 2017, an award he won for his photography skills. I’ve always dreamed of proposing in Iceland under the northern lights, and when the time came- I went through a bunch of photographers and tour guides. Most of the people I approached, said a northern lights proposal was pretty difficult to do, considering the slim chances of seeing lights in April, along with the perfect positioning and zero movement to take long exposure pictures. Miro and Joel were the first of the lot who were ready to take on the uphill task I’d set in front of them and making it a reality. To plan this surprise, we had multiple calls to ensure we were prepared for every scenario. We had location options, back up dates and even code words for when I should propose. To sharpen my knowledge I had been following a bunch of lights enthusiasts on IG. A lot of these guys suggested heading out of Reykjavik on the night of April 1 to see the lights. Miro with his expertise asked me to move it to April 2 citing cloudy conditions, and he was spot on. None of the chasers saw any lights that night. We set off the night of April 2, with a KPI of 2 keeping me worried about us not being able to see the lights. Miro however, was extremely confident that we’d see the lights. After 2 hours of great conversation, we crossed Borganes and that’s when we saw the sky slowly start lighting up. Whilst we stopped for a few minutes, Miro suggested he take us to another spot just close by, which would truly make our pictures fabulous. He took us off-roading to get us to the spot within 10 minutes (one heck of a ride, fyi). He made us then put on crampons, and took us onto a frozen lake. Over the next 15 minutes, the cloudy sky cleared up and we saw the most dazzling northern lights show for a period of 50+ minutes. My proposal went off great, as I’d hoped- it was almost as if Miro had planned this with the gods to make it this perfect. If this wasn’t enough, we were blown away when we saw what Miro had captured for us. He’d set up his camera for a time lapse, so we had the entire 50 minutes of lights with us as the subjects of the video for us to take back as memories. 110% would recommend- I don’t think it gets any better than this!! Thank you Miro for giving us an adventure for a lifetime!

Epic tour - O…M….G… this was by far the most amazing tour we’ve been on. Our tour guide, Isabella , was an absolute delight! She was so knowledgeable and talkative and warm. We felt instantly comfortable with her. We were very fortunate for an excellent lights display thanks to mother nature, and Isabella took outstanding photographs of our family. We could not be more satisfied with the entire trip and we highly recommend this tour. We want to thank the owner Miro for his prompt communications and excellent service. I rarely write reviews but I would go out of my way to tell everyone how great this tour was!

A MUST DO IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS!!! - I can’t give this tour & company enough praise! This is absolutely the first thing you NEED to do when you come to Iceland. It worth every penny. Miro was a fantastic guide and made sure we had the best experience. He took us to the best spots, waited patiently (with good conversation and fantastic hot chocolate) until we saw MORE lights. He was very informative with what to look for and where to look. The icing one the cake was that he took the time to help me with my own personal camera & settings but he also lent me an expensive piece of his camera equipment for TEN DAYS while we were in Iceland…just so I would be able to take better photos and enhance our experience. A great company with even better people running it!

Once in a lifetime experience - Another - We had a fantastic time with Miro who went above and beyond our expectations. Miro knew exactly where to take us in his fantastic Landrover Defender which was capable of going anywhere! He took us to a couple of remote locations only known to himself which were totally off road ensuring we weren't disturbed by other tourists or tour bus operators. We were fortunate enough to have a spectacular display and to have Miro our own professional photographer to take as many photos as we wished including great time lapse pictures. Miro even provided hot chocolate to warm us up on a cold night. All in all a great tour, a great experience and a great guide.

A highlight of our lives! - We had the best northern lights excursion with Miro Tran, Icelandic Roamers. He has experience and knowledge and he’s a great guy! He was totally prepared and we saw the most amazing and beautiful display as a result. The hotel concierge told us he is the best and they were right! What a fantastic way to spend a birthday!

Northern lights chasing - After our tours got cancelled twice for bad weather with another company. We booked with Icelanding Roamers hoping to have a better chance of seeing them since we would be able to access more remote places with Miro’s 4x4. So thankful to have booked with him! Not only did we get an awesome show but the whole experience all together was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to go to see the lights . There was absolutely no one else in sight so we had the lights all to ourselves! We got to enjoy the lights without having to worry about pictures since Miro took care of that and they came out awesome! Although he also took the time to show me what settings to use with my own camera and I was able to get some great shots myself. On top of all that, he also brought snacks for that cold night! We had some mini cinnamon rolls and the best and most rich hot chocolate we have ever tried. If you are planning on chasing the northern lights do not hesitate to book with Icelandic roamers, you won’t regret it . In terms of pricing, you really get what you paid for here. We gad actually done a tour with a bus the night before and although we did get a glimpse of the lights it was nothing compared to the experience we had with Miro. He really took his time to find the best place and we stayed out way longer than with the other tour! If we come back we would definitely book with him again !

Magical and Enchanting Northern Lights Engagement - We are so happy to have shared a piece of our love story with Miro! He was the absolute best tour guide and photographer from start to finish!! Miro was so personable, and I felt like we were best friends the entire time. It was a big dream of mine to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. With the unpredictability of the Icelandic clouds/winds/solar activity, it takes a very experienced guide to be able to find the perfect time and spot for the Northern Lights! Miro picked us up 30 minutes early because he predicted that the activity would be early, and he was so right!! The Northern Lights showed up just a short drive away and they looked MAJESTIC!!!! Then, we snapped a few pictures, and headed to hunt for another location - and WOW!! Miro found the absolute perfect location with no cars, no light pollution, and best of all - The Northern Lights started going crazy in all directions from northern, southern, eastern, and western skies. We were shocked and stunned to see such beautiful lights everywhere. We truly had no idea where to look because the light show was everywhere!! Even Miro himself was shocked, and he’s been doing these tours for years. Then, as if the night could not have been better, my boyfriend proposed to me under the MAGICAL dancing green lights and a million stars!!!!!!! I was already over the moon and beyond happy, but then a few minutes later, PINK DANCING LIGHTS showed up!! Such a rare sighting! What in the world!! We had no idea how Miro found the most perfect location to see all the lights and timed it perfectly to see all these different colors away from everyone else!!! I am so glad we had Miro to take photos, videos, and time lapses of all the special moments because my phone pictures would not have done the Northern lights any justice!!! Miro’s specialty in Northern Lights hunting and photography is unmatched!! His friendliness, enthusiasm, and hospitality really made us feel special and welcome.
