No Northern Lights sighting but it was still fun - Finding the Northern Lights is a hunt. This was my third time. I was successful on my second hunt which is why I want to see them again. A natural phenomenon, it all comes down to luck. And the more than 4 busloads of hunters on this night weren't lucky. We waited patiently for a couple of hours. It was chilly--actually it was cold but we were all so hyped we didn't seem to care. Even when the guide urged us all to get off the bus once more for a faint sighting, we did. It was so faint, you really couldn't see them unless you viewed them through your cellphone camera. But that's how badly we all wanted to see them. I'll continue the hunt.

Fantastic light show - worth the wait - My friend Tamsin and I booked this tour and were initially a bit concerned as we had to book the earlier slot. However, the conditions favoured us and someone on the tour had a lot of luck as we saw the lights really well. Our tour guide was great, Arman (not sure of spelling) had a brilliant sense of humour which added to the tour. There is a restaurant on the peninsular where you can warm up with a hot chocolate and a snack if you get too cold waiting - which we did. We went back outside just in time for the light show to begin.

The highlight of our trip to Iceland. - The highlight of our trip to Iceland. A very well organised trip with a knowledgable guide, Hulda, who explained the Northern Lights in detail and was constantly checking that we were in the best location to see them. We had plenty of time so wear really warm clothes and base layers. We didn’t feel rushed at all and even got a bonus stop in on the way back as more Lights activity started up. Hulda even explained how to set cameras and phones to help get the best photos. An excellent trip. Would definitely recommend.

Worth a try - It was very nice to have experienced guide and driver to take us into the countryside for a chance to see the Lights. Our guide shared scientific explanation about the Lights and local folklore. Unfortunately we did not experience the Lights but can rebook another night.

Weather cancelled our plans - It was a shame that this tour was cancelled due to the weather, unfortunately we didn’t have time to reschedule due to other bookings we had planned.

Disappointing Northern lights tour - We booked the Northern Lights tour as the highlight of our Iceland trip. We were booked for our first night of our trip but it was cancelled due to rain and poor conditions. The next night was also cancelled. The third night much to our surprise it was a go despite heavy rain all day and overcast conditions.
The guide stated that we were guaranteed to see northern lights or we would be able to do another tour until we did.
We were bussed out about 30 min from Reykjavík and stopped by some sort of golf centre. I was shocked we stopped where we did because we could still see the city lights and were facing a road with many vehicles driving towards us with headlights flashing at us.
The guide said she could see green arcs across the sky through her phone camera. I could not really see any lights. We stayed there for quite a while but I never saw any real lights. It started raining so we ended up leaving. The guide said it was a “success. We saw lots of great lights”.
When we tried to rebook we were told that the previous night we found northern lights so we were not able to go again without booking another tour.
I got the feeling they took us out on the rainy night and would say it was a success so that would count as our tour since they were backed up by days of cancelled tours.
I was VERY disappointed in the whole experience to say the least and would not book again with this tour company.

Very bad experience - Very bad, I do not recommend it, I went on the excursion and because the lights did not look good, the tour guide told us that we could go another time for free, when we spoke with the company they said that was not the case and that The information that your own employee gave was false, do yourself a favor and look for another company that does not scam or lie to customers.

Bad communication and customer service. - Trip got cancelled (understandably as it was cloudy). They emailed and said to rebook. 3 emails later trying to rebook, still heard nothing and we’ve been home for 4 days! Now trying to get a refund which they said they would honour. Still no answer. Terrible customer service, avoid.

Steer clear or be very disappointed - I’ll start by addressing how they’re likely to respond based on their reply to my Google review. A few lines such as:
THEM: Please note that refunds are not approved by phone by our customer service team
ME: So why did they offer it over the phone? Train your staff better.
THEM: The refund for the cost of the headphones which were added by you when you did your reservation has been processed knowing that the audio was not available.
ME: Only after three emails arguing the point with them. They’re not the brightest and still haven’t explained why I got dumped onto another tour with just one language – English (broken English).
THEM: We appreciate your feedback and are dedicated to providing a better experience.
ME: Sure you do…unoriginal spiel.
THEM: We do hope we will have the joy of seeing you again here in Iceland.
ME: I’d prefer to put needles in my eyes over taking one of your halfwit tours…
THE MAIN REVIEW:
I booked around August 2023 and the guy shows up on time. However, instead of an interactive tour in 10 languages, there's just a piece of paper with 'Northern lights mystery tour' on the front of the bus.
So my kid, who only really speaks Spanish, was stuffed as Roar from Lilyhammer, who was our driver, garbled explanations about the lights.
We saw literally nothing - it was utterly disorganised - a convoy of various big coaches shipping us to the wrong locations. Basically, none of the drivers seemed to have a clue where to find the lights.
They say you have a lifetime guarantee to try to see them again for free but the day after they were all booked up. Hence, they'll wriggle out of your free trip by saying they're booked and then it's unlikely you return to Iceland. And even if you do, why would you use such a bunch of unprofessional, incompetent money grabbers?
They basically bundled us onto the other tour as we were all departing from The Hilton. And it was only acknowledged after much argument that I'd get a refund for the headphones I'd purchased online. No refund for the fact they put us on a different and completely inadequate tour. Kind of like ordering a vegetarian dish in a restaurant and getting roast beef.
I'll also report them to the tourist authority there as these people are utter charlatans. STEER CLEAR or end up bitterly cold staring at clouds and being led by the blind...
