Fantastic fascinating volcano tour on the Reykjanes Peninsula - Fantastic trip on the Reykjaneshalvøya with our fantastic guide and driver Leivur 06/10/23 who also spoke Norwegian. Interesting and pleasant trip in a minibus with a knowledgeable guide and many nice people with whom we had lunch in Grindavik. Fantastic to see and not least to smell heat sources with sulphur. Fantastic two hours of walking at Fagradalsfjall where we got to see lava from the eruption in 2021. Beautiful coastline at Brimketill and fascinating Gunnuhver with hot springs. Finally, we crossed the bridge between Eurasia and North America. We were prepared to be driven back to the BSI bus station after the Volcanic wonders tour, where we would have to wait for an hour and a half before going to the Sky Lagoon, which we had also booked on the same day, but Leivur drove us directly to the Sky Lagoon, so that we got a lot more time there. Fantastic service! Highly recommend Reykjavik Excirsions.

Lava Field Frolics. - The whole visit was incredible. The walk up the long ridge gave fantastic views of recent volcanic activity and then our knowledgeable guide took us on to the lava field. A visit to a small fishing village, hot springs, geyser and a rift between the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Not as busy as the Golden Circle either.

Eric is a guarantee of efficiency, knowledge, kindness, friendliness and dedication. A 10 to the company for bringing together such good professionals who make you enjoy this way. Thank you! Great trip even in bad weather - Tour guide was excellent. We had bad weather but I was totally glad we did it and the tour guide did a great job of helping us adjust to the weather and make it a great day. He gave just the right amount of useful and interesting information. The stops were incredible to see.

Great Volcanic Wonders Tour - Had a wonderful tour on May 29, 2023 of Volcanic Wonders. This is one of the under-rated tours in Iceland. Seeing the remnants of the most recent eruption was amazing. We also visited other sites in the Reykjanes Peninsula. Eric, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave great insight about the past and present history of the area. Magnus was a superior driver. Would highly recommend this tour!

The tour was great, the guide was not - Booked hiking poles that were given to other travellers before I knew anything about it. Guide said we move as a group, no matter who is slow, there is no rush. I was the slowest, and the group went on without me, when they stopped for a breather, I caught up with them, with that the guide set off again, giving me no opportunity to catch my breath. The tour was great, the guide was not.

No need to go on a “guided tour”, might as well just go on your own. - I did the Volcano tour with ny 10 year old son, who is use to hiking. It was an amazing experience to see the volcano, however no need to use a lot of money on a tour- you might as well go on your own. I started out waiting for an hour an a half for the buss. I knew from reviews that other people had been forgotten - therefore I asked for a written confirmation (I did call three times for confirmations!) that I was being picked up along the way to the volcano site. Unfortunately the guide was waiting for me somewhere else. The manager did fix this and I did indeed get to go on the tour. The guide was nice but what I paid for was really only the transportation. In the bus at the parking lot we were told to follow the crowd to the “huts” (a look out place where the rescue team has a little place to sit indoor). She said this is where the company recommend we see the volcano. We could also choose to walk up a nearby mountain but that was on our own risk. This is all fair enough but this was told on the buss and to be back by 5.30. Then the group all went out separate ways. The guide had prior to us getting on the buss told the others a bit about the volcano. My anticipation was that we would be told about volcanos the lava rock and so on along the way, but not much of this. I did walk a bit along side the tour guide, and got a tiny bit of info, but not at all what I had anticipated. The hike is marked as difficult - it is not. It’s along a dirt road all the way- it’s a long hike but flat and on a road- there are a gazillion people walking in both direction. I was laughing with my friend afterwards that she stayed at home as normally when hikes are marked difficult it very very hard- however we met small children, people in sandals, and people of all shape and sizes along the way. You can not get lost, and my concern was the unpredictable volcano - but the rescue teams have marked this clearly and the guide wasn’t there anyway to give us tips or advice, by the time we reached the “hut” I didn’t see the guide again until I was back in at the buss. Just rent a car and go there - but please don’t miss out on seeing the volcano it’s an amazing experience. I am sure Reykjavik Excursions offer many good tours, they were kind enough to fix the pick up problem, but this one you might as well do on your own.
