The only way to see the volcanic landscape - Truly a once in a lifetime experience for us! See the lava fields and volcanoes from the last decade. This is the only way to truly see the impact.

Stand Up Experience - We were not able to fly as a result of inclement weather, but I very much appreciate safety first. The company did a great job of letting us know that there could be an issue the day before, then keeping us informed, giving us options, and ultimately refunding our flight when we couldn’t go. Would definitely try them again.

What an experience !! - Before we left home we were contacted to tell us that the weather expected for our chosen day was worsening & would we consider pulling the trip forward. Fortunately our plan could accommodate this change, so we accepted. Julian (pilot) welcome us & another couple who were to fly with us. He boarded us & explained that we should expect. He proceeded to fly us out to the volcano sight, giving us a once in a lifetime experience. Once we were back in ‘terra firma’, while waiting for our taxi, he gave us a great recommendation for dinner that evening. We couldn’t have asked for any more from this experience. Thank you Volcano Heli

Ride to the volcano - The helicopter ride to see the volcano was absolutely a bucket list trip. The pilot was excellent and answered all our questions, made sure we all got the pictures we wanted. We were able to see the lava in the volcano and watch the lava drain out. It was also a great perspective to see the lava flows that have happened in the last months. The helicopter ride was smooth and very fun! Highly recommend!

An awesome personal experience! - We arrived at the airport and Elana (spelling? Sorry!) helped us get situated. She helped us with a family photo in front of the helicopter and helped us get strapped in. When we were ready, the pilot, Matt came out and we were off! We did a fly-over of the active volcano and the older eruption site from 2021. We took our five year old son, and he did great in the helicopter. Matt has a very calming demeanor and it made us feel very comfortable getting into the helicopter. I think VolcanoHeli is much better suited for families than the other local offerings. Their helicopters are only 5 seats (4 passengers). They don’t try to fill the extra seat(s), which makes it a much more personal experience. Thank you, VolcanoHeli!

Truly Amazing Experience - What an amazing experience!! We were in Iceland for two days specifically to see the volcano eruption. Unfortunately, you don’t get a very good view of it from the road and most roads are closed leading to it. I contacted Volcano Heli and asked if they were doing tours and they said they could take us out at 10am on the day we were leaving Iceland. I told them we had to be at the airport for our flight home by 11am, so they moved things around for us and took us at 9am. They were so flexible and professional. Our pilot, whose name I completely forgot (so sorry), was amazing. An American guy in Iceland! He put us all at ease about flying in a helicopter and was calm fun and very knowledgable. The flight was very smooth and truly amazing! He took us right up to the eruption site and we were gobsmacked by the beauty of it. We could even feel the heat from the lava! It was one of lives bucket list things to do! We will never forget it. Thank you Volcano Heli for making a dream come true!

The best way to see Iceland - Thoroughly recommended. Matt, who was our pilot, owns the company. When I made the first enquiry, he recommended going for the first day that we were in Iceland to maximise the chance of getting a flight in during our stay. Flights from the city centre airport tend to be earlier in the day as they pass close to the international airport when it is relatively quiet, so we took off at 10.15am after a short introduction to the helicopter. Noise-cancelling earphones mean that you can hear the pilot and talk to your fellow travellers. There's very little sense of movement - the earth drops away as you climb to around 1,000 feet. Travelling at 130mph means that you see a lot of the area around Reykjavik including settlements, farmland, aluminium smelters, geothermal powers stations and a number of volcanos and lava fields. Matt is super enthusiastic and keen for you to enjoy the whole experience. He also knows his stuff and is as happy explaining the geology as he is talking about the numerous instruments, screens and controls. My friend and I must have taken hundreds of photographs during the 50-minute trip. If you want the perfect complement to day trips in minibuses then this is it.
