Highlights
  • Golden Circle Route - Iceland’s most popular sightseeing route, where three of the country’s most spectacular natural wonders can be seen on the same trip.
  • Thingvellir National Park - Head first to Thingvellir National Park with your guide. It was here, in the year 930, that the Icelandic national parliament was founded. Known locally as Althingi, the institution stands today as the oldest of its kind in the world, but that’s not the only reason it’s such a special place. It is here, in the Thingvellir National Park, that the mighty tectonic plates of North America and Europe meet.
  • Strokkur - Journey on to the Haukadalur geothermal area, where the hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur await. Discover impressive geothermal features such as bubbling mud pools, and marvel at the Strokkur geyser’s regular eruptions.
  • Geysir - A more famous but less active geyser, located next to Strokkur.
  • Gullfoss Waterfall - Continue on to the impressive Gullfoss waterfall, widely considered to be one of Iceland’s most beautiful sights. Gullfoss is fed by the Hvítá River, which tumbles down dramatically over a series of rocky steps into deep plunge pools below. Marvel at the falls’ power and perhaps take a moment to capture the views on camera.

AWESOME opportunities to see Mother Nature at her best. - This travel adventure was terrific from the start to finish. It was easy to book and the staff was very helpful, with on the phone direct assistance. Lots of emails kept us totally informed. The pickup was exactly as described. The three sites took our breath away to say nothing of the journey from place to place. Our guide, Rosa, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. A most memorable experience. Thank you.

Geysirs, waterfalls, and beautiful scenery. - Beautiful scenery, geysirs, and a breath taking waterfall is what we experienced on the golden tour. Bring your jackets, gloves, camera. We sat back and just enjoyed the tour. Our only hiccup was finding our way from the ship to the pick up place. It’s a little walk from the ship but was well marked once we found it.

Gray Line golden circle tour - Darren and Hans were the most delightful Host & Bus driver. It’s a 7 hour tour with Gray Line and there was never a dull moment. Darren was amazing, he shared facts about a variety of topics including history, culture and food just to name a few. Hans drove us through so many beautiful roads smoothly and safely. They were so approachable we chatted with them at all the stops and the answered questions and offered recommendations. This tour was so amazing Iceland is so beautiful!

Wonderful tour - I enjoyed the tour very much. Christina is a very knowledgeable tour guide. I wanted to comment about the planning and communication. I scrolled through reviews about pickup and timing so I was extra vigilant about the pickup time and location. I exchanged several Facebook messages with Grayline and they were responsive and helpful. On the afternoon before the tour, I went to check out the pickup location at the cruise terminal and Grayline sent me a photo to confirm the correct pickup location for booked tours. On the day of, the pick up time at the pickup location is right at 30 minutes before the tour start time. Once these are sorted, everything else went smoothly.

Grayline bus - Enjoyed the Tectonic Plates and the Geyser. We were able to get great photos of the plate separation and we saw the Geyser erupt.

Misleading, Deceptive, and Boring - According to the Website the Gray Line Bus was supposed to pick us up at the Port. What they didn't tell you is that you had to walk almost a mile to get to the pick up point because they did not pick up at the port Dock. Their Advertisment is totally misleading and deceptive. If you don't like to walk go with the Ship's Cruise Tours as their Bus picks up right at the port dock. I complained to Gray Line but got no satisfaction for a partial refund to pay for a Taxi. The tour itself was boring but could have been much better with a Guide that was more experienced and entertaining. I do not recommend this tour or the tour operator.

How Do You Rate Something you were not permitted to Experience! - Firstly as evidenced by all the positive reviews provided for all of the other tours that myself and my wife did during our recent trip to Iceland, you would be right in concluding that I am not an habitual complainer. However, this review is the exception. This tour just did not happen. I was supposed to be picked up at the Reykjavic Cruise Terminal at 7.30am. I was ahead of schedule until being prevented from leaving our ship due to the fact that the Icelandic Border Force or whatever bureaucratic rubbish name that they call themselves were late! I rushed to the pickup point and I believe that I got there by 7.35am, though Grayline claim their driver waited until 7.40am. I do not believe them. The whole scene was disorganised chaos, with no order and people rushing at buses as they arrived wondering if it was their tour bus. I rang the bus line and was told that my bus would arrive at 8.45am. After this deadline had been reached, I rang again only to be told by the same person that he'd made a mistake (he said that it was a miscommunication!, but I'd correct that to a mistake) and the bus had left already. I then walked to the Grayline depot and demanded to see the person in charge. When I mentioned that I was 5 minutes late due to the slack manner of service delivery of his country's immigration officials, he sort of smirked which led me to conclude that this was not the first time situations like this had occurred. He did offer me a later tour that day, but its return time was too late to meet my ship's departure time. I immediately contacted Viator to request a refund based on circumstances that had been beyond my control. Despite repeated attempts, they have refused my requests, which does not inspire me with much confidence to deal with them in the future. I mean they seem to be all smiles and new age review oriented when things are going well, but when things go belly up, they don't seem to want to know. So how was the Golden Circle Tour with Grayline Bus Company? Well, I don't actually know as ultimately, they failed to take me.

What a monumental stuff up by Viator & Gray Line - As we were not given clear instructions on where to meet, we waited until 10.00am without the bus coming for us. I had to borrow someone's phone to call Gray Line who proceeded to tell us that we should be at Skarfabakki 315 whilst we had been waiting at 312 where our ship was berthed and they advised "they weren't doing pickup at 312 due to construction". Our booking just said Pickup: Harbour - Cruise Ship - Skarfabakki. As we were at the bus terminal at the cruise terminal we assumed we were at the right place. We have put in a complaint and request for refund with both Viator and Gray Line and so far no joy. Looks like $268 AUD out of pocket! Buyer beware...
