Highlights
  • Silfra meeting point - Beginning your tour from you Reykjavík it takes approximately 45 minutes to journey on out to Silfra. Your certified guide will be going through the procedures of your tour upon arriving at Silfra. After, you will put on your gear and head to the flooded glacial Fissure, Silfra, created as the continental plates drift apart at a rate of about 2 cm per year.

There is never normally fish in the fissure, sometimes they swim in from the lake Thingvallavatn. The real reason people do this tour is for the unreal visibility, which is over 100 metres daily. You have to see it to believe it, photos do not do it justice! You’re in the water for around 30-40 minutes. You’ll finish the tour by warming up with some hot chocolate.

We do have the option to pre-book a wetsuit on another listing. Booking a wetsuit is recommended for people who want to have the chance to dive down or who are scuba divers without the required certifications for the scuba dive. For the wetsuit it is recommended that you are a confident swimmer, if you are not then the drysuit is best for you. To cater to everyone’s desires we are the only company that has wetsuits and drysuits allowing them to be in the same group.

Additional Information

Experiencing snorkeling within a chasm created by the separation of two tectonic plates is no ordinary experience! Known as Silfra, this extensive ‘gap’ runs parallel to the North American and a diminutive plate called Hreppar, which detached from the Eurasian plate.

Silfra is globally famous for its extraordinarily clear and potable water, offering over 100 metres of visibility daily. This unparalleled tour in Iceland is a rare adventure not possible anywhere else on earth.

Our company takes pride in being the sole provider of both wetsuit and drysuit options, enabling individuals within your party to choose different alternatives yet still share the underwater experience together.

Included in our service are photographs, typically taking between 40-100 snaps depending on the tour’s size. You’ll have the convenience of downloading these memories a few days following the tour.

We value intimacy and personally engaging experiences, hence our insistence on maintaining small groups, with just 6 people per guide. If your group consists of 7 or more, you’ll be given time together while gearing up, but once in the water, some of you will have to split up.

Beautiful blue water - Snorkeling in Silfra was so cool! Dory was a wonderful guide, helping us get in our dry suits, explaining the swimming technique and taking underwater pictures! Although my face was cold, the rest of my body was warmer than I expected! I would recommend this too anyone who enjoys cool looking geology. The color of the water is really special.

Unbelievable - Fantastic drysuit snorkeling tour. Pickup by Luis, was on time, and he was a great guide. Everyone in our group had snorkeled before, and understood what to expect, which enhanced our excursion. First class staff and equipment. Read all reviews and come prepared. Recommend

Awesome experience - This was such an amazing experience. Our guide was K who was so great with our group. The dry suits did a great job at keeping us comfortable, despite being in freezing water. I would definitely recommend!

Most fun experience - It was one of the coolest experiences I've had here in Iceland. The diving in the crystal clear and beautifully blue water was simply incredible. The water is really cold even in June, but you get used to it pretty quickly. And if you have a drysuit, you are very well protected from the water anyway, apart from your head, hands and face. Anil, our diving instructor, was super nice and very accommodating. He explained everything to us in detail and helped us put on our equipment. You definitely shouldn't miss out on this experience :))

Like(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ - Coach Doris is very warm and responsible~ She is not very good at English, but she will help translate important points. I love her so much❤️. She will help me put on every piece of equipment very carefully, and she will show me how to turn over~ I was very nervous before entering the water, but I felt safe when I saw the coach in front of me. She will help me take pictures in many places. She is so nice~ I highly recommend Coach Doris!!!

Super nice experience and guide lady - The tour leader, Miss Doris, is very nice! The explanation is very detailed! Several of us are not very good at English, and the little sister also helped to explain it in Chinese! In the middle, she also kept asking us to take pictures ~ taking care of us! The whole experience is very good! The underwater scenery is super beautiful! I highly recommend this guide sister ~

The scenery is very beautiful, I will recommend it to my friends in the future - The team leader, Miss Doris, is very fluent in Chinese and English. She leads the team seriously and responsibly. The photos are very nice, and the scenery is so beautiful. There are big cracks in the canyon, and the sun happens to shine in. There is a Tyndall effect. If Li Bai had been here, I guess we would have to memorize several more ancient poems when we were students, hahahahahaha

Worth the chill! - Beautiful and cold!! So glad my son and I were able to do this. He is 14, and said it was 'life-changing' for him. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that for myself, it was a beautiful experience. Getting into the dry suits was not the most fun, but they did work! Our guide was great.
