According to legend, two children fell into the river and drowned, leading their mother to destroy the natural stone bridge that once crossed the falls. The turbulent, rushing waters of Barnafossar contrast sharply with the gentle flow of Hraunfossar, making both spots a must-see.
• Deildartunguhver - Deildartunguhver is the most powerful hot spring in Europe, producing 180 liters of boiling water per second. The steam rising from the ground creates a surreal atmosphere, and the hot spring provides hot water to the towns of Borgarnes and Akranes. Visitors can marvel at the immense power and heat of Deildartunguhver and even purchase fresh vegetables grown in greenhouses heated by the spring.
