As we travel west from Reykjavik, we’ll encounter numerous lunar landscapes and volcanic vistas, culminating in the awe-inspiring Snæfellsjökull glacier.

This glacier crowns the active stratovolcano featured in Jules Verne’s sci-fi classic, ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’. You might have glimpsed its sparkling ice cap from across the bay in Reykjavik. The volcano is believed to possess mystical powers and is considered one of the earth’s seven main energy centers, so don’t be surprised if you feel an inexplicable spiritual energy in its presence.

The area boasts exceptional geological beauty, with craters, lava fields (some more recent than others), hidden coves, and unique rock formations waiting to be explored. Local legends and folklore are integral to this diverse tour.

Embark on a journey through Snæfellsnes National Park, often referred to as the mini version of Iceland because of its varied landscape. You’ll get to witness the moss-covered Berserkjahraun and the quaint fishing village of Grundarfjörður, Kirkjufell mountain proudly standing amidst magnificent green hills and babbling brooks.

We further explore Djúpalónssandur, an impressive black lava stone beach providing great cliff views, before moving on to the hamlet of Arnarstapi. Here, you can enjoy an awe-inspiring vista of Snæfellsjökull glacier, a renowned location largely recognized for its mention in the novel ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ where the main characters find the gateway to the center of our planet on Snæfellsjökull.

To end the day on a good note, a traditional Icelandic home-prepared feast along with a touch of local interaction is planned.
