South Coast Wonders - The South Coast Wonders tour (Ours did NOT include the Glacier hike - but no toter choice to choose) as another nice tour. We had a driver, who was also the tour guide, Leifur. HE was a very nice guy. Answered questions and told us different stories about the area. The tour was a long one but intersting scenery along the way. We did see some beautiful waterfalls and even walked behind a big one. The black beach with the lava stacks was interesting. The glacier site makes you wonder how the climate change is effecting nature. Again, if you only have a few days in town, this is another tour to take.

South Shore Adventure with Tosi: Not to Be Missed! - I booked the South Shore Adventure as part of an Icelandair package: it was the day trip of a lifetime. We drove past some moonscapes into the higher elevations and saw the volcano that shut down European air travel in 2012. Our guide, Tosi, has a lot of generational knowledge and included just the right enough of information as well as stories from his own life. The trip includes two waterfalls, the black sand beach, and a glacier. One of the best things about the tour is that Tosi provided options ahead of time based on your activity level. He took a more adventurous group right up to the glacier or behind the second waterfall whereas the rest of us walked up to the edge. (Some hung back even more: there's no pressure). I learned so much I went home after the long but stimulating day and wrote things down in my notebook. Ran into some other people on our bus that day later, and they agreed it was an amazing trip. A couple of hints: --When you stop for lunch in Vik, try the cafe to the right instead of the more formal restaurant on the other side of sweater shop. The sandwiches and soups were much better than the formal meals. --The sweater shop is really overpriced but has a deal on woolen socks (still expensive). They do have nice earrings, rings, and necklaces with runes. I would save your money for the really excellent shop near the second waterfall (the smaller one). It has some quality items made by local craftspeople, including some spiritual and magical items for those who like folk art. --It's an all-day trip. Bring a flask of water and wear hiking boots.

Excellent tour! - The whole tour was fantastic. Bjerki, our guide for the day was excellent! He was on time, respectful and accommodating. We really appreciated his stories and recommendations. We saw waterfalls, enjoyed black sand beach, and hiked a glacier! We had enough time at each destination to enjoy and take pictures, never felt rushed. Henrique our glacier hike guide was also extremely respectful and helpful especially when we felt more nervous about the hike. The bus was very comfortable, had usb ports for wifi, was clean, a good temperature and relaxed. Highly recommend doing this tour.

South Coast & Glacier Hike - We really enjoyed our ice hike, the company that Reykjavik Excursions uses for this activity was excellent and the experience was beyond our expectations. I only wish there was a better explanation of this tour on their website. We had thought it was a smaller group tour but instead we had to ride a big bus with 2 other groups doing different activities. One of the groups got delayed because of the weather so we ended up waiting 2 hours to be picked up after our hike. I personally do not prefer bigger tours because you waste a lot of time waiting for other people too. Thor our driver was good, he did his best to get us back to Reykjavik as quickly as possible despite the delay and he still made sure we were able to stop and see both waterfalls.

An exhausting jouney - This is an intense journey for people who love nature, and are strong and fit. We started early, arriving at 8:30 to the bus stop. At 8:45 we were picked up by our guide/driver, Micha, an experienced guide who speaks English with an accent, but also with an extended vocabulary and perfect grammar. He was always kind, in a good mood, and provided information, storys and jokes. On our first stop, Skogafoss, we lost a couple of passengers who completely lost track of time. We waited 45 minutes longer than the aloted time before leaving them behind. We bought some sandwiches and ate on the bus to continue to the glaciar hiking. This part took about 4 hours all together, because you have to gear up with helmets, harnesses, crampers and an ice axe of little use but great for pictures. It’s a long walk even before reaching the edge of the glacier. The first 100 meters are the steepest and several times I had to stop to catch my breath. Later, we had the chance to walk on black sand and see puffings nesting. We had an early fast dinner in a gas station, because we would arrived to the hotel after 10 pm and the restaurant was closed. (Also, we had to return for the lost passengers). The countryside hotel, Smyrlabjörg, outside Hofn, was very simple but comfortable and quiet, and they managed to serve a good breakfast buffet for all their guests ar the same time. Next day we did the optional amphibian ride on the lagoon, which I highly recommend, continued to Diamond beach, the turf roof church, Fjadrarglejufur gorge, which is amazing, the lava fields, Vik’s church and Seljalandsfoss. Here you can get face to face with the tall waterfall, walking behind it, but don’t miss the hidden waterfall down the trail; it’s not visible until you get inside the cave. Be sure to wear waterproof pants, jacket and shoes. We returned to our hotel around 9:30 pm, right on time for dinner (restaurant’s kitchens close at 10:00) to finally have a decent meal. We were so exhausted we decided to cancel our next day tour, which also was 12 hours long.

No communication of cancelled trip - The trip was cancelled and no email or text was provided prior. Reykjavík excursions helped us after we arrived at the Bus Terminal. We have requested a refund. Surprised 24 hours later to have had no communication except a text asking for a review. Not sure what to suggest for future travelers re checking prior to getting to bus terminal. The weather was good and we rented a car at bus terminal and went to the waterfalls mentioned and Black Sand beach at Vik. Definitely recommend checking out the South Coast.
