Whale watching - The trip was great and we saw the whole the whole time. The host is very helpful and announce everyone where to look at the whale. The weather was great and the ocean was calm.

Amazing trip - The number of seats seems to be a little bit insufficient as most people would want to sit inside during the travelling hour. The trip itself is amazing and we were lucky to see the humpback whale.

Amazing experience, great professionalism! - Everything was amazing from the beginning until the end. The people in the restaurant were very helpful with the check in and the yacht was great, clean and spacious. We spotted few whales, thanks to the guide. And we had a nice sunny day:) The only recommendation I would make is that everyone should bring hats, because when we were in the open sea, the wind blew strong.

Viator sucks, tour operator was excellent. - Fantastic crew and boat we were on the Amelia Rose. If I could find a way to book it without going through Viator, I would. Viatour truly sucks. The meeting place they listed and the address they gave were not the same. We used to live right by the address they gave so we knew it wasn’t right- it’s a residential neighborhood about 5-10 min walk from the harbor. Our friends going with us almost missed the boat because they followed that instruction. The captain and the whale spotter were excellent, put us right in a pod of dolphins that were swimming with humpbacks. We watched multiple spouts and diving for a really long time. Puffins flying around on the way there and back were a bonus. Highly recommend this company (even though you can’t guarantee what’s out there at any given time). But don’t book through Viator!!

A must do excursion in Reykjavik - We lucked out and saw SO many humpback whales, it was incredible. We got so close to them on the boat. The guide was great at teaching us how to spot them and pointing them out to us. Even if we hadn’t seen any, the yacht and crew were all great and it was a fun afternoon at sea.

Whale watching - This was our first whale watching trip, and we were somewhat underwhelmed. The ship was beautiful. An old yacht with magnificent wood carvings. It couldn’t be the fault of the tour operators, but we had a very cold blustery day. What did need to be improved? Was the quality of the Soundsystem as you could hear the girl telling you where there might be certain kinds of whales, but we couldn’t distinguish what she was actually saying. There was also a lot of running around from one side of the ship to the other as she picked up a Tidbit of where there might be a sighting. The entire afternoon seemed kind of frenetic, and when we went inside the cabin to warm up, the windows were not clear or clean, so it was hard to see anything if you wanted to watch from inside.

Good, but not what I was expecting - Please note that this review has NOTHING to do with the captain or crew of this tour. They were great. However, the boat itself wasn't what I was expecting. The entire front of the main floor of the boat angles out, which means you can't stand up front, close to the water, as the rail is out of reach. As such, everyone on the main deck can only stand at the rail further back. Only the top deck has seats. We stood on the second deck, which seemed best, as you can stand against the rail. However, with no seating around the outside of the yacht, you're in for a 3-hour stand. The trip out to the whale grounds was also super slow. At one point I thought I saw a turtle pass us. I've been on plenty of whale watches in New England and they zoom out to the whale grounds, giving you more time to actually view the whales. However, this boat seemed to just be idling all the way out. I think this MIGHT be because the whales could be anywhere, but it's a long, slow, journey out to them, so we had maybe an hour looking for whales. Meanwhile, the speedboat and larger whale watching boats were flying around us. Again, not sure why we were so slow getting to spots. That said, we DID see whales. Unfortunately, we saw maybe three of them, at a very far distance. Although they were humpbacks, we didn't get close at all. As such, I have no pictures of whales that you can tell are whales and not shadows of waves. If I had to book this again, I would probably do a larger boat just to get closer to the rails on the main deck or one of the rib boats to fly us out there faster.
