The highlight of my time in Iceland - Oh man, the highlight of my trip to Iceland! They provided an option for pickup/ drop off at our hotel The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. They fitted you for warm coverall ( had rain gear too) and helmets. They took care to assess ability level and pair you with the right horse. These horses are fabulous and so smooth to ride. The trail was beautiful and really got your money’s worth! And they then divided the group into those who wanted to experience all the gaits and go faster and those who wanted to just travel leisurely. This was so wonderfully done and planned out.

Great experience! - Was great! I am confident rider but my partner is not. We both had a great time! The guides were friendly and accommodating- picking and dropping off at bus stops in Reykjavik so access to site was easy. Thanks for a great time- and I’m sure we will see you on our next visit to Iceland.

Beautiful scenery, Lovely staff - Incredible tour. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The staff were lovely and very helpful for beginners like myself. Bring warm clothing and hand/foot warmers as it can get very chilly and the trail is fairly long, but it's so worth it.

Lovely staff and horses, kind, patient and very intelligent. - Very well behaved horses, kind nature and responsive. Really really clean facilities and lovely staff in particular Emily who was incredibly kind, patient and supportive for a beginner and thoroughly knowledgeable for an experienced rider. Highly recommend this place.

Not enough for advanced riders - Was not as advertised. Not enough for advanced riders. No effort was made to match an advanced rider to an appropriate horse. My horse was very slow and pokey. I asked for a horse to experience the tolt and flying pace of the icelandic horse. My horse would only trot and do a bone jarring trot. Typical beginners level trail ride, all horses in a single file. Red rock lava scenery was pretty. Rain gear was already wet before we put it on. Got soaked to the skin even with the rain gear. Only one toilet, so the whole group had to wait in line to use it, one at a time. Crowded room with not enough chairs in rain gear room that doubled for coffee room. Coffe , tea, hot chocolate after the ride was much appreciated but was only one small cup that you helped yourself to. Instant hot chocolate. All of us had to stand around a small single sink to drink our hot drink. A mounting block should be provided due to all the gear being wet. Slippery trick to get mounted. Old , worn reins . Nice stall area for the horses not being ridden. Guides were not Icelandic. One guide was Italian and another was Spanish. Nice that the guides took our photos for us with our own cell phones. They do not cancel for rain , wind, or cold weather. You should bring your own waterproof gloves. No gloves are provided.

You may ruin your clothes from the urine on your horse. - I was very excited to be on, what looked like, an awesome experience of riding horseback through nature. Unfortunately, the horse I was given was not well and not taken care of properly. He urinated three times on the short ride with me on his back (a horse rarely urinates while someone is riding them, let alone three times). When I got off the horse, I noticed a lingering smell on my clothing (gloves, jacket, pants, and boots). It is expected for a horse to smell like a horse, but not urine. It is a very distinct and pungent smell. I was forced to take time from my trip to go to a laundromat just to wash my pants and socks which costs $21 USD for a basic wash and dry. I couldn't wash my jacket or boots because their washers weren't big enough. I tried to clean them in the shower, to no avail. Upon getting back to the US, I immediately washed everything again. After two washes my jackets down fill was no longer fluffy and there was still a mild lingering smell. After three washes, my boots no longer smelled, but the material was worn down, including the waterproofing. I attempted to contact the operator multiple times via email, and only received one reply back claiming they would get back to me by the end of that week. They never did, and haven't responded to any of my follow up emails. It's unacceptable to have horses that are not taken care of properly, a saddle covered in urine on the horse (again, not properly cared for), and no customer support. The other people I was with smelled like a normal horse and not urine which is why I gave them a 2-star review instead of a 1-star.
