Great ride - Guides were super friendly and talkative. Scenery was amazing. Length of ride was just about right. Horses were well taken care of. Not far from city.

Wonderful Experience! - Don't be deterred by the unpredictable weather. These sweet horses and Sólhestar's amazing staff will deliver a satisfying experience, whatever the weather. It has been one of our favorite Iceland experiences!

Amazing - Fabulous tour guides Eric & Sophia. It was a great experience for me as I haven’t been on a horse but once. The information and history we learned was great. It was cold and windy but we were given the appropriate clothing and hot coffee upon our return. Highly recommend.

Fun time for even unexperienced riders - This was a fun way to wrap up our Icelandic trip. The horses were beautiful and well trained so it didn't take a lot of skill to do the ride and they give you options on whether to walk or do a bit more challenging ride (the trotting is a very bumpy but fun ride) My horse (I think his name was Lik Lik) kept stopping to snack on plants but the guides made sure to stay close to keep everyone together and safe. The only downside was (and it should've been expected) was we did a morning tour with plans to head to rainbow Street after and you definitely will leave smelling like you've been to a horse farm. So just plan ahead for that.

Perfect tour - Highly recommend this tour for horse and nature lovers. The tour is wonderfully designed. From duration to the route etc… The guides were so lovely and helpful. They accommodate both experienced riders and newbies. The landscape is beautiful. Overall a wonderful experience.

Not enough for advanced riders - Was not as advertised. Not enough for advanced riders. No effort was made to match an advanced rider to an appropriate horse. My horse was very slow and pokey. I asked for a horse to experience the tolt and flying pace of the icelandic horse. My horse would only trot and do a bone jarring trot. Typical beginners level trail ride, all horses in a single file. Red rock lava scenery was pretty. Rain gear was already wet before we put it on. Got soaked to the skin even with the rain gear. Only one toilet, so the whole group had to wait in line to use it, one at a time. Crowded room with not enough chairs in rain gear room that doubled for coffee room. Coffe , tea, hot chocolate after the ride was much appreciated but was only one small cup that you helped yourself to. Instant hot chocolate. All of us had to stand around a small single sink to drink our hot drink. A mounting block should be provided due to all the gear being wet. Slippery trick to get mounted. Old , worn reins . Nice stall area for the horses not being ridden. Guides were not Icelandic. One guide was Italian and another was Spanish. Nice that the guides took our photos for us with our own cell phones. They do not cancel for rain , wind, or cold weather. You should bring your own waterproof gloves. No gloves are provided.

The 2 and a half hour tour is the same as the hour and a half tour - The place is very well located and very nice. But the tour is a full-blown scam. They offer two tours with different duration and different price but then combine them into one. It compensates you to pay the cheap. On the other hand they assured us that we could gallop and that the groups were adapted to the level and then we went all together walking, without even jogging. A ride solely and exclusively for novices.
