- Demre (Kale) - Demre
Myra, now known as Demre, was once a renowned port and cultural hub at the crossroads of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. Rivers from the northern mountains converge at the Myra Canyon, flowing into the sea. The plain of Demre has been shaped over countless years by stones, sand, and earth carried through the Myra Canyon. At the eastern end of the plain lies the village of Deryan, where distant fish lay their eggs in the large, still waters, creating a unique landscape. The famous ancient port city of Andriake is at the western end, near the mouth of the Kokarçay River, while the ancient city of Myra is at the northern end.
