A Journey Through Time at Filerimos Hill

Our family adventure began with a sense of anticipation as we boarded the comfortable, air-conditioned minibus that would take us to Filerimos Hill. The driver, a well-spoken local, provided us with an informational leaflet and shared insights about the sites we were about to explore. As a museum curator, I was particularly excited to delve into the historical richness of the area, and I knew my children would be captivated by the stories of ancient Ialyssos.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the majestic sight of the Monastery of Our Lady. The remains of the ancient acropolis of Ialyssos stood as a testament to the island’s storied past. Walking along the Golgotha pathway, adorned with shrines depicting the Holy Passion, we felt a profound connection to the history that surrounded us. Though our time was limited, the experience was enriching. We wished for a bit more time to explore the lower valley and perhaps enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the coffee shops. Nonetheless, the memories we created were priceless, and the valley’s tranquility was a perfect counterbalance to the historical exploration of Filerimos Hill.

A Perfect Family Adventure

Returning to our hotel by 2:30 PM, we still had plenty of time to enjoy the sun by the pool, reflecting on the day’s adventures. The trip to Filerimos Hill and Butterfly Valley was a perfect blend of history and nature, offering something for everyone in the family.
