You’ll explore the Northwestern region of Madeira where you’ll come in contact with local customs, culture, history, ‘levadas’, woods, local wildlife and plants, cascades, volcanic lava pools for swimming, traditional food, and local beverages, including ‘poncha’. As part of this adventure, you’ll take a 15-minute leisurely wander along a levada and visit Fanal forest, home to native ‘Ocotea foetens’ trees, some of which have been standing over 500 years. Places we pass through on this trip include Serra d’ Água, Ginjas, Estanquinhos, Paúl da Serra, Fanal, Ribeira da Janela, Porto Moniz, Seixal, and São Vicente.
