Experience Latvian culinary culture on a food tour organized by Rigatrips, held at the biggest open-air marketplace in Europe. This tour offers an insight into local Latvian gastronomy, featuring an expanse of authentic local food items including meat, bread, cheese, fish, indigenous fermented vegetables, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and confectioneries.
- Cancellations - please be aware that we have minimum of 6 poeple per tour to run. If there will be not enough customers - a day before the tour we will offer you another day of tour or a compensation.
- Tour is available for vegeterians, as about 70% of the food samples will be available also for you plus an extra vegetarian offer in one of the places
- Latvian cuisine is based on meat and fish, so if you do not eat either of it, you can still participate in the tour as 60% of the food will still be possible for you to try.
- Not recommended for vegan travellers, as only 40% of the food on the tour is vegan friendly.

We will be waiting for you at the Grecinieku street in the Riga Old Town below the sign 18 with a green box and the official Riga Guide sign on the neck of the guide. It can happen, that the guide is 5 min late, as is coming from the previous Old Town tour.

Interesting tour, a little bit expensive, but worth it. - During our Baltic tour, when we were in Riga , we took this tour. Guna - our guide told us about history, logistics structure and traditions of the Riga’s central market. We went through all pavilions, where each of them dedicated to its type of food, such meats, fishes, cheeses and vegetables. There also are souvenirs shops and cafes where these products can be tried. Guna took us to different places and we tried most popular traditional Latvian dishes there, including drinks such as kvass. Riga’s black balsam and “Riga’s champagne”, which is still has the official name champagne on local market. The story which Guna told us that manufacturers of this drink won a legal battle in court to keep the name.

Excellent Value for Money - The tour was excelllent and represented great value for money. Sour guide, Oona, was very friendly and informative. Nothing was too much trouble. We were a group of 5 and could all hear everything. We tasted lots of food and drink (over 20 items) and were definitely full afterwards. Highly recommended. Fantastic price in comparison to food tours in other cities.

Recommended - Best way to experience Rīga! The guide told us about food as well as the city and the country, history and present. Interesting and educational for both adults and children. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended - This was an excellent food tour in the biggest food market in Europe! The guide did a great job of giving us so many local foods to try and showing us around the market. Such a great way to get to know the city and so reasonably priced.

A taster of Latvian food culture and the vibe of the market buzz... - A very nice tour host who guided us from the old town and around the massive market with plenty of tasters on the go, with an explanation of Latvian food culture (didn't receive a confirmation email, so showed up at the booked time/location spot in the old town where others were waiting).

Tons of very different foods - This was a very interesting tour. We tasted many different foods that we would not have known to try. It was a very nice touch to sit down and have a traditional lunch as well as tastings from the different merchants. The donuts were fantastic!

Excellent tasting tour - I wanted more than just to visit the Riga Central Point of Sale and I was not disappointed. The very friendly Guide introduced me to lots of Latvian specialties that I could not have discovered alone and had many anecdotes about life in Latvia. The visit was in English, quite understandable. I recommend. This is certainly the most convivial moment of my stay in Riga.

Would give this 6 stars if I could! - This tour was fabulous. The guide was engaging and knowledgeable and the foods sampled were varied, memorable and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and I highly recommend this tour to anyone even slightly intimidated by Riga's extraordinarily market halls.

Fun tour in Central Rīga - Really enjoyed this tour. The guide was really friendly and explained a lot of cool things about Latvian cuisine. She was also very chill about the presence of our kids. We took a lot of knowledge away from the tour.
