Turaida Castle - Before the stone Turaida Castle was built in 1214, a wooden castle constructed by the Livs stood there. The Turaida Castle was owned by the bishop of Rīga and remained until it burned down in 1776. The original entrance to the castle’s main tower was 9 meters above ground, and in 1936, a viewing platform was added at a height of 27 meters. The view from Turaida Castle is unparalleled in Latvia! Restoration work began in 1953, with the upper level of the tower and a roof being restored. The castle now houses a museum exhibition related to the historical events of the surrounding area.
Pärnu Town - Pärnu is a resort seaside city and Estonia’s summer capital, located in southwestern Estonia. Known for its spas, shallow white sandy beach, and beautiful parks, it is also a popular venue for conferences, theatre performances, and concerts. The first spa opened in 1838, and today Pärnu is an internationally recognized health resort. During the Great Northern War, the University of Tartu was relocated to Pärnu from 1699-1710, and it still has a branch campus there today. Since 1996, Pärnu has been known as Estonia’s Summer Capital. With beach life, numerous festivals, a cozy old town with restaurants, concerts, and funfairs, Pärnu has it all.
