• Rila Monastery - The journey begins at 10 am with a private car pick-up from your location in Sofia. The drive to the monastery takes approximately 2 hours along a picturesque route.

Rila Monastery was founded in the 10th century by the Bulgarian Saint John of Rila, known for his miracles. It is the largest and most stunning Bulgarian monastery. The current monastery complex was constructed in the 19th century. Entry to the courtyard and church is free of charge.
Upon arrival, you will have 3 hours of leisure time to explore. The monastery also features several museums that you may choose to visit, along with souvenir shops and a bakery offering the traditional Bulgarian “mekitsa.”

During your free time, you should also take a lunch break. You can either bring your own food from Sofia (a great option in the summer if you wish to enjoy more time outdoors) or request the driver to take you to one of the nearby restaurants.

Departure back is scheduled for 3 pm.
