As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves and exploring the ocean’s surface. But this time, I decided to dive beneath the waves and explore the vibrant reefs of Puerto Rico. My wife and I, both certified divers, were eager to experience the Guided Shore Diving Tour in Rincon. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel right at home. Their warm smiles and welcoming demeanor set the tone for what would be an unforgettable adventure.

Our instructor, Tygue, or “Tiger” as he liked to be called, was a calming presence. He patiently guided us through the equipment fitting process, ensuring everything was just right. As someone who spends a lot of time analyzing wave conditions and beach reviews, I appreciated the attention to detail. Tygue’s thoroughness gave us the confidence we needed to embark on our underwater journey.

Diving into the Unknown

The shore dives offered a unique experience compared to the boat dives I’ve done in the past. The energy required to reach the dive sites was a welcome challenge, reminiscent of paddling out to catch the perfect wave. As we descended into the clear waters, the vibrant reefs came into view, teeming with colorful fish and marine life. The visibility was decent, around 12 to 15 feet, allowing us to fully appreciate the underwater world.

The water temperature was perfect, a delightful contrast to the chilly waters I’ve surfed in. No wetsuit was needed, and the sensation of the warm water enveloping us was pure bliss. It was a reminder of why I love the ocean so much, whether I’m riding its waves or exploring its depths.

What truly made this experience special was the personal attention from our guides, Tygue and Tierra. My wife, still mastering her buoyancy, received extra guidance and support. Tierra even swam alongside her, offering a steady hand and a reassuring presence. It was heartwarming to see the care and dedication they showed, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and safe.

Their expertise and patience allowed us to focus on the beauty around us, rather than worrying about the technicalities of diving. By the end of our dives, we felt confident enough to rent equipment and explore on our own. The experience was a testament to the power of personalized guidance and the joy of discovering new adventures together.
