Great experience to Andean Mountain - Excellent choice for excursion outside of Quito. The drive to Cotopaxi Park was an enjoyable two hours with very scenic countryside. The park is at 12600 feet above sea level and you should not consider going if you suffer from altitude sickness. Hiking and horseback riding are great but you must bring the appropiate clothes since it is cold and windy. There is leisurely walk of 2.5 miles around a lagoon with nice flowers along the trail. We have a good lunch in Tambopaxi hotel dining room, a very comfortable break for the trip. However, I would not advise anyone to go there if you have heart or lung conditions becasue getting around will be an effort and get you short of breath easily

Definitely worth it! - Day started with pickup at the hotel. Jorge was very kind and informative and gave a lot of great insights about Ecuador and Quito. First up was horse back riding through a beautiful landscape with an amazing view of to cotopaxi vulcano with a local guide. After a very nice lunch, we went for the easier option hike next to a lagoon and we saw wild horses! A day to remember!

Magical, Incredible Tour! BOOK THIS TOUR! - BOOK THIS TOUR! Jorge is a fabulous guide. He is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It was just he and I on the excursion and we had a lovely drive up to the National Park. He was patient and very easy to get along with. The horseback piece was absolutely gorgeous and it was lovely to see how this group of people lived in harmony with the well kept horses in such an incredibly stunning, wild environment. I am way out of shape and overweight, but after the horseback trip, Jorge and I drove up to the volcano and joined all the other locals attempting to hike up to basecamp. Jorge gently pushed me to push myself. I did the best I could but started to feel incredibly nauseous and get a terrible headache because of the altitude so I had to stop. I just could not make that trip up to basecamp. Jorge was kind and understanding and I was super glad I had at least attempted it! Then we drove down to the lake and walked around to a lovely spot where we ate our lunch amongst the wildflowers and the beautiful sun shining on us. Incredible views, fabulous guide and absolutely gorgeous day all around! 5 STARS!! If you can also book Jorge's Quito walking tour, Do it!

wonderful day - This experience has it all. The views and sights are gorgeous but obviously never guaranteed with the weather. If you get to see the volcanoes, it’s simply stunning and awe inspiring. If it is a bit of a cloudy day and you don't get a clear line of sight, the area around is gorgeous too with the other volcanoes and tall grasses and volcanic ground and even watching the clouds that move so fast around the area are mesmerizing with their shadows. It’s just a beautiful and quiet national park that I genuinely believe needs more visitors because it’s just so gorgeous (and so empty, so you get to really immerse yourself in nature). Your guide, however, is the star of the show as he is kind and incredibly knowledgeable and willing to answer all your questions about just about anything. He’s wise and friendly and funny and makes this trip so much fun. The food is delicious, the horses are adorable, the weather is a bit chilly so be prepared for that, but it was altogether such a wonderful experience with a knowledgeable guide. The perfect way to see and learn about Cotopaxi and also the other volcanoes in the area!

Great day out of Quito - Jorge picked us up at our hotel and took us for a great day in and around Cotopaxi. We spent time horseback riding inside the national park with Dario as our guide and then Jorge led us up to the base camp at Cotopaxi. Hike to the base camp was tough but Jorge was patient and made sure we succeeded. We went into the park in a “non touristy” way and back out through the main entrance. He shared a lot of information during our day together and we will certainly use him again in the future.

Great day trip with horse ride and Cotopaxi hike! - Jorge was professional and very informative. We really enjoyed our day. The hike to the Refugio is not for the faint of heart at 16,000 feet, but worth it if you take your time.
