The Bale Mountains National Park is an ideal destination for those who enjoy walking, trekking, and hiking, as well as for culture and nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, researchers and more. The park is renowned for hosting species such as the Ethiopian wolf, mountain nyala, giant molerat, and Bale monkey. UNESCO has speculated that if the habitats of the Bale Mountains were to deteriorate, the number of mammal species that would go extinct would exceed any estimates for an equivalent-sized area worldwide. With this in mind, along with its unique amphibian species, native birds and stunning flora, it is clear why Conservation International has recognized the park as a Biodiversity Hotspot.
