- Rishikesh - At 4, 5, or 6 am, your driver will pick you up and head towards Haridwar, a journey of about 5 hours. Your first stop will be Har ki Pauri, one of the holiest Ghats in the country. It is believed to be the first place where the Ganga touches the plains, leaving behind the pristine ranges of the Himalayas. The ghat is also known as the Brahma Kund, where you can see a stone with an imprint of Lord Vishnu’s foot, as suggested by the name. You will also explore two bridges in Rishikesh. The first is Lakshman Jhula, a popular hanging bridge across the holy river Ganga. This 450 ft long bridge is built at a height of 70 ft from the river and is about 3 km away from the main town of Rishikesh. The other bridge is Ram Jhula, an iron suspension bridge over the river Ganga in Rishikesh. Ram Jhula is the newer bridge, named after Lakshman’s brother, Lord Ram.
- Haridwar - Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense) before visiting Sivananda Ashram, Parmath Niketan Temple, Gita Bhavan, Swarg Ashram, Ma Anandamayee Ashram, Sapt Rishi Ashram, and The Beatles Ashram. In the evening, during sunset, you will visit the Ganga Aarti at Haridwar. Thousands of devotees visit the ghats of the Ganga at Har ki Pauri in Haridwar to witness the aarti, a tradition that started several decades ago. The ceremony is a sight to behold, taking place on the opposite bank where priests light lamps in a clockwise manner, accompanied by songs in praise of Mother Ganga. After the ritual, devotees cup their hands over the flame and raise their palms to their forehead to receive the Goddess’s purification and blessing. Finally, return to New Delhi and get dropped off at your hotel around 9 pm.
