- Al Masmak Palace Museum - The splendid Al Masmak Palace stands proudly in the heart of Riyadh city, serving as a tourist attraction that has quietly observed significant events in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s foundation.
The palace was built in the 14th century of the Hijri calendar during the reign of Imam Abdullah bin Faisal as his residence and the center of authority and wealth. The palace is a formidable fortress against adversaries with its sturdy high walls. It features only two entrances and small openings in the walls for gun barrels during battles. Today, the palace stands as a symbol of the history of reclaiming power and governance of the country, showcasing in its corridors the characteristics of that era and its leaders after it was converted into a museum in 1995/1416.
The Arabic term Al Masmak refers to a strong, thick building that was once used as a depot for weapons and ammunition until it was transformed into a historic landmark and then a museum.
- Murabba Palace - The Murabba Palace was established by the order of the late King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was constructed 2 km away from old Riyadh, aligning with the city’s development and expansion at the time. The palace and its surroundings formed a mini city containing several buildings. The king moved in with his family in 1939, making it their official residence, the headquarters for managing state affairs, and a Diwan or meeting center with world leaders.
- The National Museum - The museum comprises eight galleries rich with history, starting with the Man and the Universe Gallery. Here, visitors can learn about the origin of the universe and the solar system, and the natural factors that have contributed to its development over millions of years. In the Ancient Arab Kingdoms Gallery, visitors will feel immersed in civilizations that existed from the 4th millennium BC to the 2nd century AD. The Pre-Islamic Era Gallery showcases the religious and social patterns of life before Islam. In the Prophet’s Mission Gallery, visitors can learn about the life of the Prophet PBUH, from the revelation to his migration to Madinah. A documentary about the history of the unification of Saudi Arabia can be viewed in the Kingdom Unification Gallery. The Hajj and Two Holy Mosques Gallery displays the urban development of Masjid Al-Haram and Masjid Al Nabawi.
