In the workshop, Karl explains the basics of pottery “hand building” techniques and then demonstrates making different shaped pieces on the potter’s wheel. Now, it is your chance to get your hands in the clay! Have a try at the potter’s wheel or hand build your own creation! After all the clay play fun, Karl shows you about his outdoor wood fired kiln and tropical garden. Great for Beginners! - This was a very fun experience learning how to make pottery for the first time. The instructor was thorough and hands on when necessary but simultaneously gave you space to learn. Karl was charismatic and informative. Would definitely come back

Wonderful unique experience making pottery with a master - Book this experience! You won’t regret it! Karl was an excellent teacher and tour guide. He met us at the dock of our cruise ship and gave us a driving tour of the island on the way to the Pottery Garden. Once there he taught us the art of pottery & then it was time to get our hands dirty! We had 3 adults & 2 kids (ages 7 & 10). He was so patient & was even able to teach us to use a pottery wheel. We all had the best time making pottery & learning some new techniques in working with clay! Afterwards we drove a different way back to the cruise port so we could see even more of the island. You can tell Karl loves his work & the whole experience was beyond our expectations. Karl was easy to communicate with prior to the experience (planning it) and was able to accommodate our cruise port schedule. Book early because I’m sure this will fill up fast during busy season! I’m so happy we found this unique adventure ❤️ I’m looking forward to receiving our finished pieces in the mail (he needs time to glaze & fire them) once we’re home! My daughter now wants a pottery wheel & kiln 😂

Amazing! - Everything about this spontaneous trip to the Pottery Barn was amazing! The owner had great customer service, very helpful, offered free tips to perfect my pieces, and most of all he has a great personality! This my first time at a pottery class and I certainly won’t be my last. I advise everyone traveling to the island to stop by, you won’t be disappointed.

Pottery with Karl! Don’t Miss it! - Learning how to throw pottery for the very first time with Karl was an incredible time! I have been wanting to learn for a really long time but could never find anything back home. I was thrilled to find this opportunity in Tortola which was that much more special. Karl is very knowledgeable, friendly and patient to help you make something you will love to bring home. I will definitely go again next time I go to Tortola!

This tour was the highlight of our cruise!! - This was the absolute best independent shore excursion that we have ever done!! Karl was so patient when he was teaching us what to do. He was so knowledgeable in the art of making pottery, you can tell he loves what he does and has the desire to share it with others!! Not only did we make the most beautiful pottery, we were taught the basics of the art of pottery making!! We got our pieces mailed to us and picked out a couple of pieces that he made and he gladly mailed them to us!! Karl was the best host, we thought that we were just getting a pottery class but it was so much more!! He gave us a tour on the way to the studio as well on the way back to the ship with such interesting facts about the island!! We will definitely be back to the island and will be sure to book another tour with Karl!! You will not be disappointed, great excursions for all ages!! This tour made our cruise!!

Best Excursion I have ever taken -
A beautifully unique experience that starts with excellent communication and an easily recognizable meeting. Follow that with a wonderful island tour by a well spoken and highly knowledgeable operator on the way to the Pottery Garden which is a fabulous niche of vision. We knew nothing of pottery and learned how to use a pottery wheel to create extraordinarily unique souvenirs while enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience. Karl is a remarkable person offering an excursion you will enjoy and never forget.

Great time - An amazing experience!! We had 3 adults and 1 child and all tried the wheel. Karl was a kind and knowledgeable teacher. We all made pieces we are proud of and will be receiving them, fired and glazed, in the mail! (for an additional fee) We definitely recommend this tour!

Private Pottery Experience in Tortola - We recently visited Karl on one of our cruise port stops and had an exceptional time.
Our family of five along with another family of 6 participated in the two hour private pottery class. Karl was very patient, helpful and extended alot of grace during our experience. None of us had any experience and the artwork turned out great. We loved it so much we had Karl put a finish on the pieces and ship to us. We highly recommend Karl and the pottery experience. You won't be disappointed and it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip!!

A very fun experience! - Our family of five did the two hour private pottery class with Karl and it was an awesome experience! Only one of us had ever done anything with clay and it was no problem! Karl gave us the choice of hand building or trying the wheel and three of us tried the wheel and two hand built. Karl was a great instructor and had the two newbies on the wheel throwing a great little bowl! You should do this experience, we are not super creative and had no pottery experience but it was one of the highlights of the trip!!
