Snorkeling was fantastic - So starting with the drive with what was an adventure on itself, the experience was very good. The snorkeling was great and it was really nice to see live coral and fish! Personally I wasn't real impressed with the sloths/monkeys but looked like everyone enjoyed. Our guide was excellent for that portion of the tour as well. But the I really enjoyed the snorkeling aspect of the tour. The homemade banana bread was excellent too.

Really nice snorkel trip. - This trip was really nice. We got picked up from our cruise ship by Enrick and had a great ride to the boat. Enrick was very knowledgable and friendly. The boat/snorkle trip was nice. The star fish were large and the coral gardens that we went through were unique. We do a lot of snorkeling and the coral formations were something we had not seen before. Would definitely do it again.

Five-Star Fun! - What a fun trip! We decided to not do a shore excursion through our cruise ship because day one with the cruise ship was just a poor experience. My husband and I found fivestarroatan through an internet search less than 24 hours before the excursion started. The online booking process was simple, easy and clear to follow. We received confirmation receipt and very clear directions within minutes. Our greeter met us right outside the gate just like the email said. We were guided to our driver — Zikeri — who was ready to take us to the start of the tour. We drove about 25 minutes and upon arrival we were led to a very nice waiting area on the shore of the ocean. Lots of seating and restrooms were available as well as everything was very clean. Louis the owner was there to greet us also which was great. When another 16 or so people arrived, we all got on the boat and headed out for snorkeling. Lots of fun and beautiful creatures to see. My husband and I even saw a baby squid. I highly recommend this trip! Zikeri was amazing and made our drive lots of fun. Very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He was also a careful driver and knew how to take care of us. He pointed out lots of local interests and stopped at a few sightseeing spots for us to take photos. We would definitely book again and we would request Zikeri as our driver. Thank you for the five-star fun!

Snorkeling was AWESOME! Animal zoo left some to be desired but my kids loved it. - Let’s start at the beginning… (my wife gets tired of king story telling but I like to include all the details 🤌🏽). We came as a family with a second couple on a Royal Caribbean cruise at the end of Feb, but decided to book this excursion with our friends off boat as my wife found a YouTube video of a family who did the same and it looked very fun. So my family of 5, plus our friends with no kids all booked together. We arrived in port and it was kind of insane all the people trying to get you to book something. As soon as we said the name “5 stars” almost everyone (even those in competing businesses) kindly pointed us where to go. As soon as we found our driver, Wilson, right outside the main tourist port town area he was smiling and jovial. From there we did have to walk quite a ways further (not a big deal for us but I could see it being a deal breaker for some people) outside the port to the real town and got into a van. Wilson was very informative telling us all about the names of towns along the way, history of each area, the history of Honduras and the island in particular, facts about the reef, facts about indigenous trees and plants on the way, and since he was fluent in English, creole, and Spanish even had a conversation in Spanish with me (I’m latino). We all had lots of questions for him and he obliged them all with a smile. When we got to the building to stage for boarding the boat, we’re greeting by a cute little monkey (Luigi) that my daughter fell in love with, and we were handed off to a team of very friendly marine staff. We had time to use the restroom, change if needed (I had been living in trunks, sun shirt, and vans slip on “crocs” for 4 days and my family in like kind so we were ready to go), and take some pictures by a huge sign with names and pictures of the different local fish. We boarded the boat as the crew made ready and waited for the other passengers to arrive and board. They staggered a couple tourists each from different cruises (which was actually really nice because we kind of got our own space and time to get ready) a big change from some excursions which makes you feel like livestock. Especially the off boat ones in my experience. Once everyone was aboard, they handed out and fit equipment, we headed off to the reef. The staff was smiling and singing, the water was beautiful, and they made sure to tell us the what we were doing before we got to each location. We first arrived at the blue channel. My youngest son (7), who’s a fine but newer swimmer, got a little unsure about the reef being so close and swam a little, but decided he wanted to go back to the boat after about 10 min. It was only about 9-12ft deep so the reef was VERY close! This was a huge plus for the rest of us. I’ve done snorkeling at other islands and lived in Florida for years and it can be hit and miss depending on where you go. Sometimes the water isn’t clear. Sometimes it’s 20-30 feet down and it’s harder to see (although less likely to run into anything - which they did warn about coral burn and i think that spooked my son). This water was CRYSTAL clear and the reef was RIGHT THERE. Simply AMAZING. As we exited the channel we arrived at (I think they called it) starfish alley. This got a little sandier and there were seriously a ton of starfish. My daughter (11) and I both free dove down (maybe 10 or 12 ft) to pick one up (the guide said it was ok so long as we were gentle, kept them in the water, and placed them back down right side up when we were done). The boat circled around to pick us up here. Last they took us over to the shipwrecked steam boat that’s been there for like 130 years. The boiler is still above the water, and the rest beneath, the reef has started to take over. We literally were able to swim through a part of the boat and saw SO MANY fish. This was like being in a discovery channel show exploring a submerged wreck. My oldest son (13) and I were having a blast! After we circled back around to the boat the crew let us jump off the top deck of the boat (which I took no hesitation at doing and was the first one - everyone followed suit after that), free swim as it was in a sandy area, and about 20 minutes to just have fun. We headed back to where the boat docks and enjoyed the bright blue water, warm air (for us PNWers) and sunshine. Wilson met us again and drove us back to the animal zoo. (Which I’ve read some bad reviews saying they thought it wasn’t a zoo… it was quite clear to us when we booked). Maybe they changed how they describe it, or maybe because we watched the YouTube channel of the family who went, we knew exactly what to expect. It was busy but our guide had no more than 1 other family in with us at each animal station. He told us the names of each animal, explained about them, and brought snacks for each to entice them to come see us. My friends with no kids LOVE birds and really enjoyed the macaws. My daughter was in love with holding the sloths. It was very neat to just get so close and hold animals we never see up north. If we do it’s from far away. I can see some people’s complaints with the zoo as it is pretty small and a little busy, but honestly I expected that and was just a bonus to cap off the snorkeling. The next part is real reason I’m glad we went to the zoo… There were 2 Restaraunt right at the zoo area available to eat at. One at ground level, one way up at the top of a set of steep stairs. My wife asked Wilson which he thought was best and he said he liked the one up above. I told him I Mexican and I don’t like bland food and I’ve eaten lots of tourist trap “authentic” foods before but he assured me it was good… and he was right. Flavorful rice and beans (best I’ve had in the Caribbean islands in fact), excellent jerk chicken and KILLER ceviche. We also tried the local hot sauce made with an indigenous pepper close to habañero (actually some kick to it & flavorful - mexi approved) and had pickled red opinions infused with that pepper to garnish our meal. 🤌🏽🤌🏽 SO GOOD. We had a bakers couple of the local beers our server recommended (I’m a beer connoisseur and I make a point to try local beers every place I go on the planet). They were you typical lager/pilsner style - which if I’m being honest is what you want when it’s 80+ deg F - but no skunk bite that’s common with imports. It’s brewed on the island and consumed on the island so nice clean refreshing beer. (Saved a couple bottle caps for my collection btw). We got back to Wilson and thanked him for the recommendation… I’ve been disappointed before with bland food como los gringos. He taxied us back to the port and even had good conversation and smiles on the way back. This guy was a real star. This was an incredibly enjoyable trip and I felt very taken care of the entire time. I think we got our moneys worth and to be honest I’d do it again if I find myself in Roatan again. Some Americans probably can’t vibe with less than first world vehicles and buildings, but what this island lacked in infrastructure, it made up for with smiles and good times.

Snorkeling was amazing! Loved holding the sloth. - We did the monkey/sloth, plus 3 stop snorkeling. This was a very fun day and we loved the snorkeling destinations. The guys on the boat were fantastic, very attentive and fun. This would be a 5 star review except that our driver appeared less than enthused with driving us around. I don't think he said two words and never even told us his name (I had to ask). It would have been nice to have him engage and talk a bit about Roatan, and/or where we were going at any given time (after snorkeling he drove direct back to cruise port, but only to drop someone off, the rest of us were very confused and had no idea why we were going back before the animal sanctuary). We were told (when we booked) we would do a lunch stop but that never happened. While at the animal sanctuary, we were never told what time to be back at the van, so rather than just stand around (we had no idea where he was), we ended up just walking back to the cruise port, which was a short walk that we actually enjoyed. That said, this was a very fun day. There is a ton of competition, so I would be hesitant to book with them next time.

Amazing Snorkeling but State your needs - We were on a Carnival cruise and booked this tour despite Carnival wanting only their tours used. They try to make you nervous about local businesses. We had wonderful instructions to find our guide. It was a bit of a walk to get there as the cruise ports don't allow the local businesses to park close by. The trip to the beach was narrated by Andrew, our driver, and he told us all about the roads, which were in rough shape, the government and the places we passed en route. We ordered lunch before boarding our boat to go to the reef. Of course there was a local vendor selling trinkets, but she was lovely and not pushy. We bought from her because we like to support local people We brought our own masks. We used their fins after the starfish reef because honestly the guide goes fairly quickly. We are in our sixties, and I had a knee replacement, so jumping into the water off the ship was not an option for me. I need the ladder...which they did lower for me when I asked. I guess they believe everyone can snorkel when you book a three stop snorkel trip, but we had inexperienced snorkelers too. The young men were great to explain how to use the equipment, but you did have to ask. Speak up when you pay for a trip and you will be guided properly. If the guide goes too fast ask him to slow down. The men were lovely guiding us! I did not do the third stop but stayed on the boat because my knee had enough of a workout on the first two stops. The lunch was really good...especially compared with Carnival's snack on an all day trip to the Mayan ruins that was a bag of chips and a bottle of water! They offered shrimp, fish or chicken with rice and coleslaw. Drinks were priced well . We found this trip to be beautiful and well worth the money. Just remember you are in a third world country where the locals do not live like tourists in fancy hotels. Be polite, grateful and state clearly what you need. These young people are happy to oblige.

Good snorkeling, a bit disorganized. - Snorkeling sights were good. Team was very disorganized on times for the tour. Lots of waiting. Once out on the boat, the fish were amazing.

Water and waves were way... - Water and waves were way too rough and high for snorkeling. The communication for pickup and tour schedule was not informative, partially due to poor WiFi.
