San Domino - San Domino is the largest of the Tremiti Islands and is renowned for its stunning landscapes, earning the nickname “The Garden of Paradise” from the friars. The island is adorned with a distinctive Aleppo pine forest, which visitors can explore via well-marked trails that wind through typical Mediterranean vegetation such as myrtle, rosemary, phillyrea, mastic, and juniper. Cala Matano is a picturesque natural inlet that plunges steeply into the sea, ending in a small cove accessible by a path from above. Named after a duchess, this spot is equipped with umbrellas and deckchairs. Other notable inlets include Cala dello Spido, Cala degli Inglesi, Cala dei Benedettini, Cala Tamariello, and Cala Tonda, the latter forming a charming lake-like setting. Cala delle Arene stands out as the only sizable sandy beach in the Tremiti archipelago.
-
San Nicola - Known as the “Montecassino of the Adriatic,” San Nicola is the only island in the Tremiti archipelago featuring an abbey-fortress. This island has been a cultural and religious crossroads for millennia, making it a remarkable example of historical dialogue. A visit to the Tremiti Islands is incomplete without exploring this ancient village.
