ABRUZZO - MEDIEVAL MOUNTAIN MAJESTY JUST 80KMS FROM ROME - With Rome incredibly crowded ridiculous as it sounds we needed to escape. Our research led us to Italian Travel advisors where Fabio as founder and M.D. provided a day to be remembered. He picked the six of us up from our hotel where in his Citroen mini bus we travelled East South East from Rome and in no time were in open fields and Beechwood forests. The Parco Nationale D'Abruzzo protects this amazing place where the Appenine mountains soar to 2100 metres . This land with its peaks and Grand Sasso highland plains is home to European wolves, Marsican bears and sheep flocks guarded by white Maremmano - Abruzzes sheepdogs. An Abruzzo charcoal BBQ was followed by visits to a series of medieval villages, all balanced and decaying yet clinging to sharp granite peaks - Rocca Calascio and Santo Stefano Di Sessanio were mesmerising. The fact they have withstood hundreds of years of time, countless earthquakes and annual snow inundation adds to their mystique. Back to the hotel around 7.00pm - what an incredible day with the perfect host.

Fabio was fabulous. - Our tour to the Abruzzo region with Fabio was excellent. Viewing spectacular mountain scenery, exploring an ancient fort from Norman times as well as mountain villages, savouring a delicious traditional Barbecue, and conversing with Fabio about a world of topics were some of the highlights. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this tour.

An Amazing Day Trip from Rome to Abruzzo - Our host, Fabio, treated us to a fantastic day full of great scenery, enlightening conversation, a very knowledgeable and informative commentary plus a great BBQ lunch and wine in the middle of a scenic national park. We drove for the most part of the day covering a considerable part of the Abruzzo area, with spectacular mountains, high-country plains, towns nestled precariously on top of cliffs and fascinating ruins and old castles. The BBQ lunch was a real treat with locally produced meat, cheese, bread and wine. Mid-week the lunch venue was virtually to ourselves and the BBQ lamb and sausages blended perfectly with the red wine. With six of us in the car our conversations continued throughout the day and covered a wonderful range of topics from history, to politics, geography and the details of each place we visited. This day trip is highly recommended.

An unique experience to remember! - An amazing day in the Abruzzo region with Fabio could not have been better. Even the blustery afternoon had its advantages with unique photo opportunities that proved to capture once in a lifetime pictures. From a brief roadside stop to grilling arrosticini and sausage at a mountainside restaurant, then to a short hike to the castle, we thoroughly enjoyed our day. Fabio provided a multitude of information regarding what we saw and what we experienced. His knowledge, personality, sense of humor, and overall concern for our safety and pleasure is the epitome of customer service which provided an experience that we will always remember. Thank you again Fabio!

One of my best days in Italy! - I had the pleasure of a private tour of Abruzzo with Fabio while on a quick trip to Rome. Having travelled all over Italy a number of times, I wanted a different and exciting adventure and this trip exceeded my expectations! First of all, Fabio is super professional and attentive. Quick and informative communication, was on time to meet me, and handled the details of entire day so I could just relax and enjoy. Plus, he is clearly passionate about the Abruzzo region and offers a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture. The day was so well planned and every stop was amazing, from the quick coffee run on the road, to the delicious outdoor lunch that you grill yourself, to the trek to a castle with huge panoramic views, and a stroll through charming mountain village full of local artisans. There was a good amount of walking with lots of time to stop and chill and take photos as desired. Everywhere you look, there's gorgeous natural scenery. The day felt full, but not exhausting.
