Highlights
  • Porta San Sebastiano - Depart Rome’s city center in style by passing through the impressive San Sebastiano gate in the 3rd-century Aurelian Walls.
  • Appian Way (Via Appia Antica) - Begin your exploration of the Ancient Appian Way, which gradually transforms from an almost unremarkable Roman street into a uniquely preserved ancient road, now nestled in the idyllic Appian Way Park.
  • Catacombs of Saint Callixtus - During the 4-hour tour, take a brief moment to reflect on the vast underground burial site, the final resting place for half a million souls. Please note: this stop is not included in the 4-hour tour on Wednesdays.

In the 6-hour tour, enjoy a 45-minute guided visit to these 2nd-century catacombs, rich in complexity and mystery! Note: On Wednesdays, the 6-hour tour will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastiano instead of those of San Callixtus.

  • Circus of Maxentius - Marvel at the remnants of an Imperial complex built in the 4th century A.D., which includes a Villa, a Mausoleum, and a Circus (a chariot racetrack venue).
  • Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella e Castrum Caetani - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - One of the largest and best-preserved structures on the Appian Way, this 1st-century (A.D.) funerary monument was dedicated to the memory of a young girl from a noble family.
  • Villa dei Quintili e Santa Maria Nova - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - A vast 2nd-century private Villa complex that once belonged to two of the wealthiest brothers in Roman Imperial history. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.
  • Parco degli Acquedotti - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - Witness the massive aqueducts and learn about the extensive system of underground and arch-supported water supply built for ancient Rome.
  • Parco Della Caffarella - A charming ‘pocket’ of green valleys and hills in the suburbs of the Eternal City, home to large flocks of sheep grazing in its meadows.
  • Terme di Caracalla - View the magnificent Caracalla Thermal Baths from the best vantage point and learn about the central role baths played in the social life of ancient Romans. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.

Additional Information
  • Please note that approximately 40% of the route of this tour takes place in the city. In the remaining 60% of the route (riding in the parks) we encounter no traffic.
  • You will cover an area of approximately 17 miles (27km), 60% of which takes place off-road. The difficulty level of this tour is intermediate (difficult with a child seat or child extension mounted on the bicycle).
  • Infants under 1 year are not allowed to participate for safety reasons.
  • Infants aged 1-4 years travelling on a child seat (with load capacity of up to 55 lbs or 25 kg) come on the tour free of charge
  • For children aged 5-8 years a child extension (child streamliner) is provided.
  • Children aged 9 and above can autonomously ride on an appropriately sized E-bike.

  • On Wednesdays, the route includes a deviation, so the tour may last up to half an hour longer (4.5 instead of 4 hours and 6,5 instead of 6 hours). The tours will be 30 minutes longer also in the period January 25 - February 20, 2024
  • On Easter Sunday (March 31st, 2024), the Catacombs are closed (therefore, the 6-hour tour will not be running)
  • This tour doesn’t include any food or drinks; however, the route offers a few possibilities to purchase some food or drinks (which can be consumed during a suitable break).
  • Are the tours safe? The answer is: Absolutely! The tours follow carefully planned routes which have limited access to traffic, and some have no traffic at all, meaning you are able to enjoy your ride around the city in total relaxation and safety and you won’t have to worry about traffic

Truly Incredible E-Bike Tour— Highly Recommended - Our tour was truly incredible. The tour guide Dario provided some interesting historical context and made sure we all stayed together. Even on a very hot day, the e-bikes were easy to use and Dario found plenty of shade so we could refill water and hear some interesting insight about this remarkable city. One of the best tours we’ve ever taken— my 10 and 13 year old kids will never forget it. Thanks Dario!

Great bike ride in a fantastic scenery! - We had a good guide, knew lot of little fun facts (and also the great lines of Roman history of course), spoke English very well, was nice and kind. We had an interesting visit at the catacombs, impressive place. The Via Appia is great to see, to know what's been there. And the aquaducts were very impressive to us. We are glad we choose this activity!

Bike and ride in Rome! - This was a GREAT experience for our family! Arina was a great guide and very knowledgeable about all the places we saw (and then some). We had ample time for stops along the way, picture taking and just riding. The six hours went by so quickly!

6 hour Appion Way, Catacomb, and Aquaduct E Bike tour - My husband and I did the 6 hour Appion Way, Catacombs, and Aquaduct Tour. The day turned out to be a 96 degree day. But a lot of the ride is in the shade and once we started moving the wind made it feel much cooler. Our guide was Nima, he was amazing! He had great information about all the things we were seeing. He also takes safety very seriously, specifically on the busy street portions. The location was easy to find and we were greeted warmly upon arrival to the office.
