Bis orat qui bene cantat - The concert of sacred music was the highlight of our trip. The group was outstanding in their musicianship, their blend, their sensitivity, etc. Nice selection of musical styles too. Our tour guide was also outstanding. Nice explanations and distillation of a lot of material.

A Tour for All the Senses! - This was such a fun experience. It started with the music in a dark auditorium. It was very calming and unique. All the songs were acapella, and each was given a bit of a backstory as to why they were singing it. After that, we learned all about the Capuchins order, and were able to see an original work by Caravaggio. Once we went through the museum, we were into the crypts and I saw catacombs unlike any I'd ever seen before. It was not like some where it's just lined walls of skulls and bones, these crypts were a work of art. Each room had a different meaning, a different story, and the guide explained it all to us, room by room. At the end, we toured the Church of the Immaculate Conception where they guide told us about the artwork and history of the church. This was a very cool experience, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for something different than the typical church tours.

A respite in Rome - During our recent visit to Rome, my daughters and I were privileged to spend an evening visiting the Capuchin museum and crypt. The museum is informative and interesting, well signed in English as well as Italian. The audio tour provided a rich source of additional information. Following this, we walked through the crypt which is an ossuary. Never before have we seen wall art created by human bones – fascinating! The highlight of our visit was a concert of sacred music performed by Roma Opera Omnia. A quartet of pure voices in perfect harmony… The audience was enraptured. As any tourist to Rome would attest, the city is very busy and very crowded. The concert offered a respite from the hectic life outside.

Unique Experience. - It was a cool, not so popular thing to experience. I usually don't like audio tours but this was well done - styled like an interview. Very informative. The crypt was interesting to say the least, and the Gregorian opera was amazing. I only wish they would do some longer pieces.

Heavenly concert along with incredible bone art - After a brief visit in the church, we headed to the crypt which housed four rooms decorated with bones mostly belonging to the Capuchins and one additional room without bones serving as their small chapel. The rooms with bones are incredibly interesting containing thousands of bones arranged as works of art. Each also contains the mummified remains of some of the monks. Afterwords, a concert with four singers performs religious songs through the ages. Listening with eyes closed is a heavenly sensation ending our unusual but definitely worthwhile experience.
