These works are largely humorous, irreverent, and satirical. They were mainly composed in Medieval Latin, with a few in Middle High German and Old Arpitan. Some texts are macaronic, blending Latin with German or French vernacular.
In 1936, Carl Orff set twenty-four of these poems to music. On stage, soloists Elena Memoli (Soprano), Enrico Torre (Countertenor), and Alessio Quaresima Escobar (Bass) will bring these renowned arias to life, while pianists Tei Kim and Alessandro Romagnoli will enrich the performance with the piano’s powerful sound. The symphonic percussion, the core of the piece, will infuse it with a distinctive rhythmic energy.
Enhancing the experience, choreography by Minea De Mattia will add movement and theatricality to the performance, amplifying the impact of every note and word.
