A fantastic guided tour, the highlight of our trip. - This tour was the highlight of our family trip to Rome. Our guide Bogdan was excellent, and looked after the whole group through the numerous security checks, ensuring a hassle free tour. His knowledge of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill is fantastic and he had a very easy, friendly and humorous manner. Having visited these sites in the past without a guide, we certainly gained a lot more knowledge from this tour. We don’t often leave reviews, however felt the experience received was worth every penny and our guide Bogdan deserves credit for providing a high quality tour. We highly recommend.

Very interesting and informative tour - This was an excellent tour and much enjoyed by both of us. Our guide, Flavia, had excellent knowledge and good English. She spent a long time explaining the sights and history and was very responsive to questions. It was also great to have had the opportunity to visit the Forum as this was fascinating historically in itself. We would thoroughly recommend taking this tour.

Your knowledge on the Roman Empire was outstanding and you had a wicked sense of humour to go with it. Thank you for sharing all of your years of research and love for your city. I now know my chicken!

Great semi-private colosseum floor, forum tour with Julia! - What a great tour with Julia! She was so kind and knowledgeable. The semi-private tour was the perfect size group for Julia to answer questions and engage the group as a whole. Our kids (9&16) enjoyed the tour as well. Booking with the Roman guy was easy and the meeting instructions were clear.

A 5* tour, but for one thing. - Our tour guide (Bogdan) was absolutely worth more than 5 stars. A native of Ukraine, who’s lived in Rome for 20+ years, he was both knowledgable and funny. He sometimes offered an alternative view on how he thought things might have happened in the arena, that differ from what you might think after watching the Gladiator series of films. The Colosseum and Roman Forum are as impressive as you’d expect and breathtaking in parts. If you get a chance to ask for Bogdan as a tour guide, don’t hesitate. Now to the only reason for the 4* score. Despite arriving at the Colosseum 30mins before the start of the tour, we found locating the meeting point difficult and stressful. The actual meeting point is described as a fountain. If you’re thinking you need to be looking for something the size of the Trevi Fountain or Bethesda Fountain in New York’s Central Park, you’re not. It’s more a water fountain attached to the wall outside an entrance to the Colosseum Metro station. What makes it more difficult to find, is the Viator (who we used to book the tour) website, which gives you directions up some winding stairs to a piazza above the actual meeting point, which is also home to lots of tour companies and plenty of tourists getting elevated photos of the Colosseum. After some very stressful rushing around, and through luck more than judgement, we returned downstairs to find the Roman Guy tour company location. The only way you could tell it was them was through 2 small red flags (roughly the size of A4 pieces of paper) attached to sticks. To make it easier to find, I’d suggest they invest in a temporary sign, such as a removable banner or A frame board. Again, absolutely no fault of our tour guide Bogdan, who made the experience incredibly memorable.
