Highlights
  • Vatican Museums - If you select the Early Vatican Museums Tour or Afternoon Vatican Museums Tour: Your guide will lead you on a full tour of the Vatican Museums, stopping to see all the most important works. Visiting either before or after the daytime crowds, you’ll appreciate the extra space and silence to appreciate the magnificent artwork in the Museums.
  • Sphere within a Sphere - If you select the Early Vatican Museums Tour or Afternoon Vatican Museums Tour: Inside the peaceful, Pinecone Courtyard you’ll pass a spectacular bronze globe. It was designed for the Vatican by well-known Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro and copies of it can now be found all over the world, including Dublin, Tel Aviv and New York City.
  • Stanze di Raffaello - If you select the Early Vatican Museums Tour: During the day, the Raphael Rooms are as busy as the Sistine Chapel. At this hour of the morning, however, when the Museums have just opened for the day, you’ll have plenty of space to enjoy them peacefully. Your guide will point out where Raphael worked the faces of his contemporaries Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo into his frescoes.
  • Sistine Chapel - If you select the Early Vatican Museums Tour or Afternoon Vatican Museums Tour: The Sistine Chapel wasn’t meant to be seen standing shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of other people. Beat the crowds by entering first thing in the morning or in late afternoon to enjoy the incredible frescoes in relative peace.
  • St. Peter’s Basilica - If you select the Early Vatican Museums Tour: Last but certainly not least, you’ll head straight to St. Peter’s Basilica via a special secret passage, bypassing the long lines that are starting to form outside. End your morning with a full tour of the sacred space and gaze upon Michelangelo’s moving Pietà, Bernini’s grandiose altarpiece, and so much more as you learn the stories and legends behind them. Note: The special access passage between the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica is subject to unexpected closures. On such days we will instead explore the magnificent Pinacoteca Gallery.

Great early morning tour - Laura was a fantastic and very knowledgeable guide. She led our group efficiently through the Vatican museums and basilica while sharing wonderful stories and information about all of the art and history of the Vatican. It’s early, and the Vatican doesn’t open until 8, so you line up and essentially beat the crowds. But you don’t want to tour this place any later than 9 am, it is just not enjoyable then

Early Morning skip the line is worth every penny - The skip the line early morning Vatican tour was AMAZING!! First off, skip the line is the only way to go and early morning gives you a chance to avoid some crowds. Our guide Gigi was FANTASTIC!! He was beyond knowledgeable, funny, and gave us great background into the history associated with the Vatican. He made the tour even better!! Would take this tour again! Thanks Gigi!

EXCELLENT COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. MUST DO EARLY MORNING TOUR - We just conducted our 7.15am tour yesterday morning. Our tour guide was Gigi he was FANTASTIC & so KNOWLEDGEABLE. He kept us all wanting to know more. He is definitely an asset to your company really engaged well with his tour group. I booked this tour in Australia through Walks of Italy from a podcast I listen to & it was definitely worth their advice. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour to everyone. This company has everything planned down to a T no problems at all with using them. Smooth check in, very quick to get into Vatican Museum & yes skip the longgg lines into St Peter’s Basilica Thank you & keep up the great work.

Incredible guide (Gigi) and great tour! - Gigi was AMAZING!! He engaged with the group and helped everyone enjoy the experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but the real gift he brings is his passion, sense of humor and personality. It was a really fun tour in addition to the educational component. I am so happy we did the early tour. The museums were relatively uncrowded and we were able to see things and spend time where we wanted. I will definitely recommend this tour, especially Gigi and will try to book with him again when I return to Rome. My teenage son and I are still talking about it, which says something. Thank you for making it fun and educational!

Buyer Beware - False Advertising Alert!! - Simply put, false advertising sums up this experience. We booked this tour specifically to "skip the lines" and to enjoy the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel "before the general public crowds" as advertised. Neither happened!! We met at the meeting location which was approx. a 10 minute walk to the Vatican. We sat there for approx an hour listening to the tour guide giving historical details of the Chapel. When we finally walked to the Vatican entrance, there was a ridiculous long line of other tours as well as a long line of general admission patrons. It was a complete mess as everyone was being admitted through the doors. There was NO "skip the line" and the museum and Chapel were both overly crowded by the time we got in. We paid over $300 for 2 ppl and it was a COMPLETE RIP OFF!! The only benefit was that the guide was decently informative regarding the Museum and the Chapel. My advice would be to book a private tour directly with the Vatican as this Viator Tour is definitely not what's being advertised!!!

False & Misleading Advertising! Super crowded, and no special access at all! - First of all our guide herself, was nice, kind and knowledgeable. This was not her fault. It was the false Visitor website description that is misleading; it states that by paying extra for this tour can you “beat the crowds and enjoy the quiet of the Vatican before it opens to the general public with early entry” …this is flat out FALSE! It was insanely crowded, we had to wait in line with everyone else from the general public. We did a Vatican tour last year 1/5 the price directly with the Vatican that was way less crowded. We paid 5x for this, and still had to wait in crazy long lines (no early entry” and had massive lines and insane crowds at every turn like any other regular mid day tour. It was not quiet nor enjoyable as described. The only good thing was the guide, she was good. Just Don’t pay extra for this!!!
