Vatican Early Morning Tour - Magnifico ! - Wonderful tour with Gigi - he was knowledgeable and patient and even with an early morning tour there were crowds ! He kept us all together and attentive with his wonderful stories and humor. Linda and I not only saw the best sites around the Vatican we also heard stories only a true scholar would know. We saw a lot in our 3 hours and always kept moving !! There were some break times built in. We do recommend the early morning as the Vatican gets busy.

Not what you think but excellent - We took the Pristine Sistine tour which meets at 7:15. That said, you enter the museums at 8am with the rest of the public and about 20 other groups. As timed tickets are only available 60d in advance and go quick, I appreciated knowing we had tickets confirmed for our group of 6 four months in advance. The guides seem to do a good job staggering their movement around the museum. Our guide, Marco, was spectacular. A PhD archaeologist and great storyteller, he focused on high points and pieces with a good background. Did we see all 70,000 pieces in the Vatican Museum? Of course not. But the 50 pieces we did cover, I feel I understand well! We got to the Sistine Chapel by about 9:40am (tired and full of info) and had 20 minutes to enjoy it with crowds that were small enough to get a spot on the benches and rest our legs. By the time we ended at 11:00 and circled back to some favorite pieces on our own, crowds were already very thick. Early entrance for smaller crowds and a curated experience is worth it for the most visited museum in Rome.

Great Renaissance Tour - Very enjoyable tour and guide was full of energy and knowledge. When booking please note that the museum is large and this tour covered the Renaissance period so skips past most of the ancient parts of the museum.

Good tour, convenient meeting point - Great enthusiastic guide. Good information, had bathroom breaks, would avoid Wednesday if possible. Would certainly recommend going early or late to avoid lines.

Don't book on a Wednesday! - The tour was great BUT they fail to mention that on Wednesdays the basilica is closed until 1. I specifically paid 300 to get early access to the basilica and museums and to skip the line. It wasn't until the day of our tour that we were informed the basilica is closed until 1 and we couldn't skip the line. So by the time we finished our tour and exited the line was 2 hours long to enter St. Peter's. We had other plans so I think we will be missing entering St Peters Basilica all together.

Good tour but guide not so knowledgeable - The trip was great and we had a fast pass that helped us skip through the line but the guide may not have been very knowledgeable of quite a bit of information at the museums from the paintings, sculptures etc. although he had great knowledge about the Sistine chapel. I would’ve liked a guide who knew more and was more experienced in this particular tour.
