Highlights
  • Chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Orazione e Morte - Start your tour at St. Mary of Eulogies and the Dead Church to explore the ancient burial site below the church recently re-opened after seven years of restoration. You’ll meet a nun inside the church who will escort you down a short staircase into the bone crypt, decorated with the skulls and bones of abandoned corpses. Both a shocking and fascinating sight, the bone crypt is truly understood with the help of a knowledgeable guide. Before entering, your expert guide will explain the early Christians’ interesting beliefs on life and death, which motivated the creation of such a macabre memorial.
  • Rome - Sit back and relax as an expert driver takes you outside of Rome’s city center while your guide answers questions about the bone crypt and gives you an introduction to the fascinating Roman Catacombs.
  • Catacombe San Sebastiano - Enter the catacombs after the crowds have left for an intimate tour of this ancient burial ground. Depending on the day or season, you may visit a different, but equally interesting, Roman Catacomb.
  • Rome - Roundtrip transportation to Rome’s city center takes all the thinking out of this special access tour. You’ll be back in the city in time for dinner.

catacombs - The guides were very knowledgeable. The only issue was that the communication earpiece the group received was excellent EXCEPT when in the catacombs. The group could only go single file and the reception was lost each time we moved. Solve this & it was perfect.

Absolutely worth the price. Unique and informative! - Seriously fantastic tour! Our guide was informative and really kept up by pointing out and giving history about everything we were near or drove past, making sure we ingested everything possible. The sites themselves were amazing, and I wouldn't have even known to visit them with a basic Google search or even a search for catacomb tours. There were only 10 of us, so it was easy to gather when we stopped to see something special. I can't possibly recommend this tour enough and it was truly worth the price.

Easily the most comfortable tour of this summer - Grazie Annamaria! A very knowledgeable and well organised tour, with plenty of comfort despite the Rome's summer weather. It felt like an exclusive access to such interesting history! I would totally recommend this tour.

Highly recommend! - Great tour! Silvia was a wonderful and fun guide! You enter the catacombs after closing so it’s only the small group with a guide. There is also a visit to a beautiful church and the crypt below!

Don’t miss this tour! - Wow… Our guide Fede was amazing. He showcased the history of Rome, the religions in the area prior to Christianity, the start of the Catholic faith - which all built up to the visit to the catacombs. Fede was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the area, this history, and made the entire tour better because of his knowledge. At the end he gave individuals restaurant recommendations and assisted our family in finding a place that had Gluten Free pizza. Could recommend this tour, and him, more!

Fascinating tour - This was a very interesting tour to say the least. We made our first stop at the Church of Santa Maria dell'Orazione e Morte. The actual church is beautiful, but the crypt downstairs features a cross made of skulls, and a chandelier made from vertebrae and other bones. The second stop was at the Catacombs of Priscilla. The bones had been long removed, but a very sweet nun gave us a tour showing us some of the artwork and explaining what we were seeing. It was apparently the final resting place of many early Christians and Christian martyrs.

Federico is 5 stars - Federico is absolutely 5 stars! Excellent personality, knowledge & humour. Although our tour was disrupted due to events beyond his control I still thoroughly enjoyed spending my time on this tour. Highly impressed with the prompt action in rectifying the disruption from the tour. Thank you again

Amazing Guide and History - Our guide, Federico, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and had tremendous energy. He was happy to help with everything from restaurant suggestions to securing a taxi. My teenage son expected to see more bones in the catacombs, but was still engaged with the tour.

Not as expected - Wonderful tour guide. Very sweet, funny, personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the experience but we’re disappointed that the catacombs were completely empty. You will not see bones and skeletons in this particular catacomb even though it shows this in the advertisement. False advertising if you ask me! Also, the tour guide isn’t allowed to do the tour once you reach the catacombs since it is considered “Vatican Territory.” Once you reach the catacombs, a priest takes over the tour.
