Dominique will lead you through the quaint streets of Frascati, where you’ll sample the renowned roasted pork of Frascati, known as “Porchetta,” from the town’s oldest bakery, enjoy Frascati wine straight from the jug at a classic ‘Fraschetta,’ and encounter the town’s baker, tavern keepers, and other local personalities. The tour also includes visits to landmark sites such as Villa Aldobrandini, the Saint Peter’s Church of Frascati, the central market square, numerous traditional shops and taverns, the Bishop’s Palace, and the 12th-century St. Rocco Church.\n\nFollowing this comprehensive introduction to the town, a short and enjoyable walk takes you to the Frascati Winery. Here, you’ll stroll among the vines with the winemaker, learning about the various grape types and pruning techniques used in Frascati. In the winery’s 16th-century cellar, you’ll discover the traditional methods of producing Frascati’s famed jugged wine and observe the antique equipment and tools once employed in winemaking. You’ll also delve into the deep wine cave where ancient Roman relics have been unearthed.\n\nPost-tour, you’re in for a captivating wine tasting session, indulging in the distinct flavors of the winery’s three signature wines. The first is a white Frascati Superiore DOCG, followed by a red Vagnolo IGP, and finally, a sweet Cannellino wine. Each wine is complemented by the winery’s own olive oil, pizza, unique breads, and fresh fruits or vegetables picked from their garden. This sensory journey is enhanced by your guide, a certified wine sommelier, who is eager to impart his extensive knowledge and answer any questions you may have.\n\nTo conclude the winery visit, you’ll amble back to Frascati’s center to a quaint Osteria for lunch. One of Frascati Winery’s finest wines will accompany your lunch.\n\nAfter your midday meal, around 02.30 p.m., you’ll head back to Rome in a Minivan.
