Pompeii isn't the only ruins you should be visiting! - We loved being able to take the train with a guide, and our guide, Caterina, was amazing! We had no idea these ruins existed, and Caterina brought them to life! It was a fabulous tour and we covered a lot of ground and were able to interact with the ruins, which was appreciated. What a place, and all visitors to Italy should visit. We enjoyed roaming the ruins by ourselves after the tour ended.

Historical experience with Caterina in Ostia Antica - On 17 September, we took a trip to Ostia Antica. The meeting place was clear and the guide was well on time to explain all the practical arrangements. We had a passionate and professional guide who brought the ancient city back to life and gave clear insights into life in a Roman city. It was a good mix of explanation and giving time to immerse yourself in the city and to take some pictures. Nice that after the guided walk you could still stroll around the complex freely. Thanks to Caterina for the excellent explanation and guidance!

Highly recommend Ostia Antica - This is the working city on the Tiber for all the imports into Rome. And is fantastically frozen in time. Pompeii is the Roman beach resort town. For a look back in time this is the much less crowded alternative. Our guide Caterina was outstanding, knowledgeable, able to describe life in Ostia.

History lesson - Wonderful history lesson and enjoyed it. Google maps takes you to the wrong location, some of us were in the wrong location, walk around the corner to the side of the cafe.

Ostia Antics: not to be missed - Fabulous preserved ruins a short train ride from Piramide station. Much larger than Pompeii and not at all crowded. Far better alternative to a day trip to Pompeii. If you take a guided tour the guides are incredibly well informed.

Very interesting. Loved the mosaics. - Our guide Alberto was great. My issue was with the meeting place. The information said to look for RED umbrellas outside the cafe. They were WHITE. One couple would have missed the tour if Alberto had not gone above and beyond to locate them. Also the tour was a bit long for senior citizens. As I said, our guide was excellent.
