Highlights
  • Pantheon - Make your way to the Pantheon to explore the best-preserved monument of Ancient Rome on a guided tour of the former pagan temple. The itinerary will narrate the history but above all the curiosities and lesser-known facts of the Basilica of Saint Maria ad Martyres, the Pantheon.

This monument has represented the greatest expression of the glory of Rome for more than two thousand years.  In 608, Pope Boniface IV had the remains of many martyrs removed from the Christian catacombs and placed in the Pantheon. Thereafter the temple was officially converted to Christianity and named Saint Maria ad Martyres. The Pantheon was an inspiration to Raphael, one of the greatest architects of the Renaissance, and he requested it be his place of eternal rest. Unravel the mysteries of the structure, admire its extraordinary features, such as the dome with its oculus that both lets in sunlight and acts as a cooling and ventilation method.

Choose the tour in the time you prefer; just turn up at the D’Uva Audio guide Desk inside the Pantheon 5/10 minutes before (once inside of the Pantheon get on your right and you will see the Desk)

Additional Information

The Pantheon stands as a fundamental cornerstone of Rome’s heritage, and any tour of the city would be incomplete without witnessing this magnificent edifice. The allure of the Pantheon is unquestionable. Esteemed French author Stendahl characterized it as “the most splendid testament of ancient Rome, a temple so well conserved, it appears as if we’re viewing it through the eyes of the Romans themselves.” Discover the historic edifice through a Pantheon walking tour, offered in four languages. Gaze at the globally largest freestanding dome and uncover the notorious tomb of Raphael.

Uncover how a Roman temple transitioned into the final resting abode for luminaries and monarchs. Marvel at the massive dome with its oculus and navigate through the well-known crypts. Unravel the history and obscure truths about the most impeccably preserved monument from Ancient Rome on a one-hour curated tour of the Pantheon. Understand how the basilica has symbolized Rome’s monumental prestige for over two millennia.

  • Meeting point: Reception desk of the Basilica of San Lorenzo di Lucina situated to the right of the Basilica doorway in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina 6 Rome

The Pantheon Revisited - My second visit to the Pantheon, the first was 36 years ago! What an amazing place to see again, and a great way to experience it with a guided tour. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, I was so engrossed in the experience that I barely noticed the crowds! Recommend this tour highly.

Pantheon Tour - The tour was OK at best. The guide was about 10 minutes late. She hit a few of the high spots and left us on our own. I think you could have gotten more information from the Audio Guide.

Fast Track = Three Long Lines - Booked the English Guided Tour weeks in advance direct from the website. Unfortunately we didn’t make it on time for the tour despite arriving an hour in advance. Just so you know - these are the steps: 1) Take your printed out voucher to a Basilica 2) Stand in line for another piece of paper/ticket 3) Walk 10 minutes to The Pantheon 4) Stand in a big line to get in the Pantheon 5) Stand in a big line inside the Pantheon to get a headset for the in person guided tour. They ended up just giving us headsets for the self-guided tour as the in-person guided tour was already over by the time we got to the front of all the lines. Waste of 50 euros. Pantheon was amazing. Organization not so much.

Frustrating - The process of obtaining tickets needs to be much easier. Actually, there is no need to walk around a bunch to find a small door just to get a piece of paper. It could easily be mailed. Also, the audio equipment was totally out of sync with the designated exhibits. Ie, exhibit 7 and Audio unit number did not correspond to each other. But you could guess the right number yourself.

Alright experience - Not the tours fault but the audio guide was not available when we came to tour the pantheon. In the future and they wanted you to download an app for guided tour

Was not what we were expecting. - It wasn’t “guided” it was an audio guide. Pick up location was far from site. Lines we still long. Had to wait in line for audio equipment Then wait in same line for return of equipment. We didn't even use the service.

Do NOT take this tour! - Do not take this tour. The title said “Guided Tour of the Pantheon in Rome with Fast Track Ticket.” In the checklist it says it includes “expert guide.” In the body it says “ Meeting point: Reception desk of the Basilica of San Lorenzo di Lucina situated to the right of the Basilica doorway in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina 6 Rome ONLY TO COLLECT YOUR ENTRY TICKET, AFTERWARDS GO TO TO THE PANTHEON WHERE YOU WILL FIND YOUR GUIDE INSIDE THE BUILDING AT THE AUDIOGUIDE DESK.” There are THREE mentions of a guide. No one met us. No where does it mention an audio tour with a headset that is too big for a young child’s ears. Yet, that’s how we spent our hour. Everyone on my family had a terrible time. When I called Viator to get a refund, the only thing they wanted to do was offer me a discount on a future tour with them. No thanks.

Wrong tour for me. - First off we met to get our tickets about a half of a mile from the pantheon. It was a long walk to the pantheon. I was under the impression that this was a guided tour. This was not. It was an audio tour recording. I would not do this tour again

Our Guide never showed up! - Our guide never showed up after we picked up the tickets at the designated location. We ended up walking around the temple on our own.
