Pompei was a large and diverse city with a healthy mix of wealthy elite, merchants, artisans, and slaves whose lives you’ll get a crystal-clear glimpse of on a 2-hour walking tour.
After some rest-and-recharge at an authentic pizzeria, a short transfer will take us to our second destination.

Exceptionally well organized and a fantastic guide - I left from Rome terminal after reading the very clear instructions to a meeting at a predetermined pickup point in the station.
From that point onwards, everything worked like clockwork until I arrived back in rome at three end of the day.
Or guide was also amazing. Not only was she clear and knowledgeable, she made the tour come alive.
She was also thoughtful and considerate, given that the group ranged in age from children to senior adults.

A glimpse into the ancient past. - Super fast train from Rome (299kph!). A lovely, friendly, well informed guide who knew and loved her subject. I think her name was Carla.
The two ancient monuments are extraordinary. This was my third Pompeii trip and I saw almost everything for the first time. There is so much to see.
It was a great day out from Rome. Th lunch was enormous and very good too. Recommended.

Great sights, greater tour company. - Let me start by saying Pompeii is a must-see, and Herculaneum was a wonderful, less-crowded and more-preserved accompaniment. The tour company was highly professional. Our group had a few timing issues (train delay, emergency traffic closure) and the tour company did everything to ensure we had a fulfilling tour, and that we weren’t stranded in Napoli. Our guide Carla was incredibly informative and entertaining. Highly recommend.

Great trip to Pompeii & Herculaneum - Everything was very well organised. The ItaliaTours rep met us at the station and took us onto the platform. Great high speed train journey and we were met by our guide in Naples station. She was brilliant - very informative and attentive to our needs.

An unforgettable day - A cost-effective and efficient way to see both Pompeii and Herculaneum in one day from Rome. Pompeii is fascinating and not to be missed, but it's crowded and a little overwhelming. Herculaneum is quiet and peaceful, so you really do need to see both. The same guide went with us to both places. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. The "pizza lunch" was actually a three-course meal with drinks. Taking the fast train allows you to do all of this in one unforgettable day.

Pompeii, pizza lunch, Herculaneum - I thought our tour might be a bust, we showed up for a Pompeii tour and were promptly told it was cancelled. Not their fault, the Italian Rail was delayed by more than an hour. Luckily they were able to reschedule us later in the week and even gave us a bit of an upgrade. Our tour Guide Ida was very knowledgable and informative. She did a great job moving at the speed of our group (had a couple of senior citizens). Only drawback is that Pompeii can get very busy.
The "pizza" lunch was at the restaurant right outside Pompeii and it was excellent. There was a fixed menu of appetizer breads, choice of 4 pizzas, 4 different Pastas, desert, wine, beer, sodas. All was very good.
We also got to see the ruins at Herculaneum. This was also amazing. Smaller site, fewer crowds, better preserved houses. Amazing to see the level that the lava had buried it.
Amazing experience, walking through both sites are like stepping back in time.

Amazing experience, outstanding guide - Our tour was amazing. It was incredibly easy to find our guide and get on the train. The ride was quick and convenient. We lucked out and had the tour guide to ourselves (likely because it was sooo hot!). Carla was outstanding. She was friendly, knowledge, and very solicitous of our needs and comfort. The lunch after Pompeii was seriously among the best we had in Italy. Because of the heat, Herculeanum was pretty empty but Carla made it so interesting, we were sad to leave. Francesco, our driver, made sure the van was nice and cool for our rides. Highly recommend!!

You should see it but not in High Summer. - I’m giving it 5 stars because Ida was very good and the tour is worth it. Caveat: I would advise never go in July (and I presume August). It was deathly hot. I had to bow out bc of the heat The rest of my group did it but were stunned by the extreme weather.
Otherwise it’s an extraordinary place.

Right sized small group tour - Wonderful guided tour through two important archaeological sites and we were so fortunate to witness the latest excavations at Pompeii. Spectacular frescoes and artifacts being revealed for the first time in centuries. We loved our local guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. Lunch was good too. Transportation was comfortable and the group was only 10 of us so we did not miss any content.

Best daytrip we've done - excursion to Pompeii and Herculaneum from Rome, by ItaliaTours - We made an excursion to Pompeii and Herculaneum, leaving Rome by high-speed train to Naples. The company provided us with all the train tickets, one person from the company was in Rome Termini and stayed with us until we boarded. In Naples, our Guide Antonio received us at the station and spent the whole day with us, in Pompeii, Herculaneum, lunch, until boarding the train back to Rome. It was all perfect and special. Our Guide Antônio is passionate about archaeology, in addition to being a caring, friendly person. It was a pleasure to spend the day with Antônio. This excursion was amazing, it will forever remain in our memory.
