Comprehensive tour around the ancient city - We got what we expected. The tour by a very knowledgeable guide Fabiano was excellent, though at first we underestimated him a little. Being an archaeologist himself Fabiano told us not only amusing facts about Pompeii, but also a brief history of the city, eruption and excavations. The tour was organized well enough, though we'd rather stay more time in the city instead of spending half an hour in the cameo showroom next to the entrance.

Excellent if you are in Rome and want to spend a different - Excellent choice! From the guides Enrico and Sascha in Pompeii, the driver Gianfranco and the companion Matias. We ate margarita pizza very good and recommended, being the typical food of the Naples region. I liked that the tour was timed and organized.

Welcome trip to Pompeii - Wonderful experience exploring the ancient city of Pompeii with an Archeologist as a guide . The trip is well organised and the bus to Pompeii is smooth with a break in the middle of the journey for refreshments which breaks the journey up . It’s difficult to explore the entire stretch of Pompeii in 3 hours but we see the main highlights which is the icing on the cake . I enjoyed the trip . Thank you so much for the lovely experience .

Recommended tour - Very good bus and tour guide, and very comfortable bus to travel. We found that the hour before lunch to see the jewelry in the area is a bit of wasted time that could be used for the tour. Food 3/5: we ordered a carbonara that was not very good, and a pizza margarita that was okay. The salad was not good. The tour as such is very interesting and we recommend it if you have any day off.

Pompeii - Very worthwhile. Our coach guide, Francesca, was terrific. Our site guide, Fabiano, was also a gem. Very knowledgeable. Lunch was great! One important note: the site visit begins with an unnecessary stop at a cameo artisan “museum”. Very expensive pieces. A obvious money grab. No one in our group bought a thing and it added almost a hour to the trip. While this is a pricey tour, it is worth it. You travel in comfort with experts. This is an all day event, so don’t count on doing anything else!

Good trip. - Overall the Pompeii trip is amazing. If you signed up to have a throuough experience of Pompeii, this is a good choice. The day starts at around 6:40am for us. If you are staying within the Aurelian wall, they'll have a car picking you up and drop you off at the meeting point. At this point, I would like to have an extra confirmation when is our driver coming because they can be a bit late (understandable). The bus ride is from Rome to Pompeii is overall nice. The guide, Ricardo, is nice enough to let us sleep for the first half of the trip because it was a bit early. Few complaints I have is, the stop is a bit underwhelmimg with one store and not really good breakfast per Italian standards. Ricardo is a bit adamant on making everyone leave the bus even though we are still sleeping, and ask us to board the bus on a particular order, which does not make sense to me because the bus is filled anyways. Other than that, Ricardo is wonderful at explaining interesting landmarks in and out of Rome, Naples, and so on. The highlight of the trip, is of course, the tour of Pompeii city. I forgot our guides name, so I'll refer to her as purple umbrella lady, who I believe is phenomenal. She has an extremely depth of both archeological and historical knowledge about the city, knowing what to go and what to watch out for. The way she communicate is both comprehensive and engaging. From the gladiators, to arena, from the wealthy, to city life, you can envision yourself in Pompeii 2000 years ago before the great eruption. It is both an nostalgic and eye-opening experience, especially if you are a roman history nerd. I don't like the lunch. While pizza is nice, carbonara feels like it's made by a restaurant in America and tiramisu and salad is too wet.

Too long and a lot of wasted time - We knew the tour was 12 hours but you could skip the jewelry making factory was a waste of time .We felt like there was a lot of wasted time . We were picked up in the morning at our hotel which was great. But it was not available at the end of tour . You have to let people know this ahead of time .

Hard sell at every opportunity. - Our guide inside Pompeii was amazing! The coach driver & tour leader got us their & back & gave some good information however there was a hard sell vibe about how they went about it. The surprise visit to a jeweler, the hat being passed around after a very short busking performance at lunch. Asking for more tips at departure. One passenger played loud tiktoc clips on her phone on the return trip whilst most others were trying to rest/sleep and despite being only two seats back from the tour guide he did not ask her to turn her volume off or use headphones. Many were annoyed, even people at the opposite end of the bus. Tour guiding is not just about smooth talking.

Held hostage in jewelry store AVOID - The tour description didn't explain you will be dumped in a coral and shell jewelry store for an hour. This is an hour extra we could have enjoyed inside the ruins. Massive tourist trap and also unethical and unsustainable in practice. Don't take this tour.
