This extensive network of tunnels snaking underground was once both a burial ground and a place of worship for the first Christians in Rome. With an expert guide you’ll explore and hear the fascinating history of these sacred places.
- Catacombs tour is not recommended for travelers who may get claustrophobic due to the small spaces.
- The tour is not accessible for visitors on wheelchairs or with severe motor disabilities.
- Dress code is required: shoulders and knees has to be covered.

Catacombs and guide - Very nice guide... beautiful visit to the catacombs!!! tour that we will return to do with children as soon as we have the opportunity to return to Rome!

Catacombs - March 2025 - Nice experience! The driver is exceptional!!! A real moment of sharing... he loves his job passionately and it is felt! No matter where you come from... you live the moment to the fullest!
The catacombs are one of Rome’s must visits!

Bus drive even better than the tour itself - Alessandro was a wonderful bus driver who showed us the most beautiful parts of the city with clear explanations in all required languages during the drive. He is very well prepared and does it with a true love for the city. Bravo!

Don't bother paying the tour company. You can do it on your own. - I am giving a two star review instead of a one star because the driver was amazing. I cannot remember his name but he was funny and tried to make the trip educational. We purchased the Catacombs and the Crypt near Berberini Square. The Catacombs were nothing special. It was just empty underground tombs. The Crypts were a lot better. Our issue is that the instructions were not clear despite asking questions to the ticket office people. We were handed a city bus ticket to get to Crypts after the visit to the Catacombs. When I asked how we were getting back to starting point from the Crypts, I got no answer. SO, we were going to skip the second part. When we walked back to our Airbnb, we realized the Crypts were right near Airbnb, so luckily we were able to go to the Crypts. However, had the Crypts been far from AIrbnb, we would have been left stranded with no way back to starting point. The instructions were confusing and we should not have been handed a city bus ticket with no way to get back to starting point. We were basically left on our own while we paid for a guided tour. I see nowhere on Viator that the second tour was supposed to be via a city bus. I also feel the price is too high for what we got.

Don’t recommend - Disappointed I expected the crypts to be underground not recreated in a building. I would avoid and find a different tour.
