Colosseum - Marvel at the grand Colosseum as we discuss gladiatorial contests, their origins, and the construction of this iconic arena in just 8 years. Discover a stunning view of the Colosseum, often missed by tourists, and experience the thrill of being an ancient Roman spectator, transported back 2000 years. It’s an indescribable feeling!
Note: We will not enter the Colosseum. - Circus Maximus - Witness the largest ancient arena, designed for chariot races, with a capacity of 250,000 spectators, nestled between the Palatine and Aventine hills. The emperor himself watched the races from the imperial palace on Palatine Hill. These races served not only as entertainment but also as a means of socialization and power propaganda, which is why horse-racing arenas were larger than amphitheaters.
- Giardino degli Aranci - A beloved spot for Romans and visitors alike, the Orange Garden offers a breathtaking panorama of the city, including a stunning view of St. Peter’s Cathedral’s dome, framed by Roman pines. Many Romans visit this place to watch the sunset, go on dates, or hold wedding photo sessions.
- Colle Capitolino - The term “capital” originates from Rome’s most significant historical hill, the Capitoline Hill, highlighting its importance in ancient times. It was the administrative center of the city and empire, home to the main temple of Jupiter, and now houses the Roman City Hall, the world’s oldest museum, and the symbol of the city - the Capitoline Wolf. Learn about its history while enjoying the best view of ancient Rome’s center - the Roman Forum.
- Piazza Venezia - Constructed a century ago, the Altar of the Fatherland in Piazza Venezia is a prominent symbol of Rome, notable for its size and decoration. It features the tomb of the unknown soldier, an eternal flame, a permanent guard, and a museum dedicated to Italy’s unification.
- Pantheon - Appreciate one of ancient architecture’s masterpieces. The Pantheon, created by Emperor Hadrian, who had a passion for architecture, unified Roman religion under its vast dome, still the largest in the world. Due to metal detectors installed during the Covid period, there might be a long queue, so we may admire it from the outside.
- Trevi Fountain - Begin the tour at your hotel and head early to the world-renowned Trevi Fountain before the crowds arrive. This hidden gem, crafted in the 18th century, is still fed by a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct. Bring coins to toss into the fountain to ensure a return to Rome, as tradition suggests. Nearby, you can savor the finest Roman ice cream.
- Spanish Steps - Next, visit the Spanish Steps, one of Rome’s most captivating spots. Enjoy views of the Church of the Holy Trinity at the top and the Barcaccia Fountain at the bottom, while learning about the Spanish Steps’ intriguing history. We’ll also stop by Rome’s oldest coffee house, open since 1760!
